<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Plate umpires travel with their own strike zones, forcing pitchers, catchers and batters to adjust day by day. NBA referees aren't all that different, with the definition of a foul or the fuse on a technical foul changing from guy to guy, game to game. So just as the Timberwolves and 28 other teams constantly adjust to opponents, they also have to factor in a ref's style. Or mood. Or vision. Or whatever. There are certain guys who look to call a charge more than a block. Certain guys who are going to let things go. Certain guys who have a reputation for liking the challenge of refereeing on the road -- when the home crowd is screaming at [them], they relish that." The Wolves might have gotten one of those in Tuesday's Game 1, when Bob Delaney -- a former undercover cop who busted mob bad guys -- and his two fellow crew members called 26 fouls on the Wolves to 17 on Sacramento. That included a flurry of six in 96 seconds in the third quarter. After the game, Saunders talked of frequent plays on which Kevin Garnett got whacked, bumped or jostled on his lower body. Garnett said little about the refs, true to form throughout his career. </div> Link
I thought the refs were bad both ways last night. Nobody got the calls they should have gotten, and a lot of times, if they did call something, it was a ticky tack foul. But I like Garnett not saying anything about it, that is what an MVP is supposed to do.
IMO, The refs did poorly. I thought Sam Cassell was going to punch someone, he was going crazy after that foul call on him when he was battling with Doug Christie. Kevin played well, 6 blocks is crazy. Game 3 is ours!
