<div class="quote_poster">Quoting panfolk:</div><div class="quote_post">how often does mcgrady play sf? he's listed as a guard.</div> The last two seasons, McGrady played most of his minutes at the guard position, but in 2001 he started 54 games at SF. The change had to do with changes in the overall roster of the Magic, causing him to slide into the backcourt. The original plan for the Magic was to have Grant Hill play SG and T-Mac play alongside him at the SF position.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting aidan910:</div><div class="quote_post">i would really love to see mcgrady go to the pcers.. they would then be able to kick some aerious western conference a$$.... i think that if the pacers were going to get mcgrady then they may have to give up ron artest at least.... harrington and bender arent anything to set ur franchise around so the magic wouldnt take it IMO</div> At this point in their careers, I don't even know if the Pacers would deal Artest straight up for T-Mac. McGrady's trade value is at an all time low after a disappointing series, and his chronic back problems. Artest on the other hand is coming off an All Star season, capped off with Defensive Player of the Year honors, and playing for the team with the best record in basketball. Tracy McGrady is hands down the better invidual player, but I don't know if his type of game would fit in with the Pacers and I don't see a team competitive enough to win a title making such a blockbuster trade.
He wouldn't fit in here either, in my opinion. Joe Johnson is on his way to being a superstar himself, while still letting Amare and Shawn get in on the fun. T-Mac would want too many touches to keep those guys in rhythm.
you're forgetting JJ and Marion would be gone... Now Marion is an Olympian on top of being a former allstar trading him is insane. JJ a pick and Voskuhl should be enough if McGrady's trade value really is low. Hopefully we aren't going to offer the rumored deal. In case anybody hasn't noticed this is almost panicky for many suns fans to lose Marion and JJ. Those two made the season bearable with their consistent confident performance (after marbury trade) during a coaching change, a season with a rookie starting point guard (that is a bit of a handicap especially when their english isn't the best), and their remaining star repeatedly leaving with injury (amare). They are just too good to lose. Especially for a gloryhound (however good he plays). It'd be nice to see the colangelos let go of the superstar acquisitions and develop their abundant young talent. if the suns get rid of the deadwood (White and Eisley) and acquire a true starting center (Camby or Dampier) plus a shooter (Kobe or Brent Barry) they'll be in the playoffs and competing with Memphis and Denver level teams if not the Sacramento and Minnesota level teams. so it goes PG Milos Vujanic, Leandro Barbosa we have the euro guard Milos Vujanic coming over (though I'm not crazy about having two foreign points, one a rookie the other a second year, which doesn't give you seasoned nba ready leadership) and according to Z he is comparable to Tony Parker (though this may be just hopeful hype) SG Kobe, Joe Johnson and Casey Jacobsen or JJ, Brent Barry and Casey or JJ and Casey Casey is a serviceable backup with with good defense and bullseye precision but his minutes could be replaced by Barry in a heartbeat... of course if we get Kobe JJ's game will hit the toilet as it did when he was playing behind hardaway... it'd be nice to be more of a threat (get Barry in FA) to teams so we could spread the floor more and shake up defenders... everyone is aware of JJ's talent SF Shawn Marion and Zarko Cabarkapa An Olympian (possibly two if Z makes the Serbian team like he wants to, he was part of the Yugoslavian team that beat USA in the world championships (I'm fuzzy on the details there) and a guy that showed his potential in a game in Dallas only to have him get injured in the same game... but he will be a threat again next season hopefully PF Amare Stoudamire Antonio McDyess? Another Olympian! and a proven veteran (if we resign him... we may draft if we get the right pick I imagine) (Dampier or Camby) Jakle Voskuhl and Maciej Lampe FA will save our bacon here. This is our weakness along with PG (PG potential is way high with what we already have though). We need a strong offensive threat who can match up with Western bigs. Voskuhl is a great high energy backup but doesn't have the skills to be a starter. Lampe has the skills but lacks the experience. This guy has a shooting touch that's more than respectable for his size. Fundamentals are good as well. SO... if Vujanic pans out and we can get Camby or Dampier we will already be a .500 team! It wouldn't hurt to get a shooter in Brent Barry (I'm not for the whole Kobe acquisition because I think Amare is all the superstar we need considering Marion is just awesome but doesn't get the credit.) We have potential to be a really balanced team with amazing speed. Working insode out from Amare... or if as some would like to see Vujanic Barbose Kobe Jacobsen TMac Z Amare Dice? Dice? Lampe (money left for Camby or Dampier after Kobe and TMAc?) Kobe TMac Amare and Lampe are all shoot first create second players and imagine the lack of teamwork. One of the reasons Marion doesn't get credit as a star is because he doesn't make the stink the stars do. He's not going to complain about a lack of touches due to Amare as he makes his own by sheer hustle. On a good night he'll give you 20 points 10 rebounds 3 assists 2 steals and a block... pretty fine for someone who doesn't whine. That is one of the best forward combos in the league (NJ has a similarly good one in my opinion) I remember only one article mentioning Kobe having a "50/50" chance of coming to Phoenix... there are still other teams... anybody know why TMAc or Kobe is high on Phoenix
That's what i think, Why phoenix????????????? Go East Kobe GO EASTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT I'd love to see him at the knicks.
I hate to take this thread further into a convo about Kobe, because far to many topics end up somehow talking about him and not the intended topic, but I still have to reitterate that Kobe needs to worry about not being in JAIL next year. I know it's seemingly easy to dismiss this issue with the train of thought that he's simply got too much money and notariety to not get off, but the more I read, the better the case against him is looking.... You know What, I'll start a thread on this as I've got alot to say. Sorry, back to unsubstantiated rumors about T-Mac.
Shoot, instead of getting Jake, I like to see Maciej Lampe, the kid can play. He just needs to get more time. But still, I hope T-mac will go back. Him and Okafor will be crazy.
I don't know about this , I really like T-Mac in Orlando at least a few games alongside Okafor to see if it works out lol but you have to consider that we are loaded that the SF spot..and Grant Hill is suppose to start at PG..but well.. look: PG - Grant Hill/T-Lue/Jameer Nelson?? SG - Joe Johnson/DeShawn Stevenson (Nice I really liked Johnson at the end of season) SF - Shawn Marion../Keith Bogans?/Pat Garrity? PF - Drew Gooden/2nd Rounder? or first round pick?(from phoenix?) C - Emeka Okafor/1st round pick from phoenix and/or Voshkul? I don't know Orlando staff would really have to study this trade and write out what they are planning to do after the trade to see what would be the final product...I wouldn't say take it on a heartbeat. As for T-Mac and Amare ..Whoa...(I went to the same High School as Amare did ) That would be awesome , both lived near by in Orlando lol so it would be better to see them both in Orlando haha..anyways I think that would be a killer but you will have to Sign some good caliber players via free agency...

I don't think he'll be in Orlando much longer either way.

He'll be cut, that's my guess.
From what I heard in The Best Damn Sports Show Period, the rumor isn't true. The Suns are willing to give up Marion, but not Johnson and a 1st rd. pick.
Plus the latest rumors are that the Magic feel that its not enough (Marion, JJ and 1st) and won't deal with the Suns unless Amare is involved. Who knows how much truth is in it.
I love this trade for both teams. I think the magic should start trying to rebuild unless some free agents gop there Tmac would just be wasted talent. And the suns would be awesome if they possibly got Sebastian Telfair as point wiht Tmac Scoring and Stoudemire and Antonio McDyse causing havoc in the post. Like Mcdonalds I'm loving it.
This was posted in the Suns forum <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In fact, management already is being deluged with calls from other teams. The media, of course, already is throwing out unconfirmed proposals. One such report has the Suns ready to swap Olympian Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson and a No. 1 pick for McGrady. "It's not anything close to that, I can assure you that," my source declares. "The Suns aren't willing to do any deal other than Marion straight up. Johnson is not and will not be included." </div> http://www.nypost.com/sports/16974.htm
