Johan Petro: Top prospect in France. Athletic, can run the floor. Great body, Good wingspan, big bones, and pretty strong. Has put on a lot of weight in the past two years. Has good touch on the ball. Still raw on offense but has a little baby hook that he relies on much of the time. He?s definitely a great potential but has to change attitude on the court and play hard. Very good dunker.
Thanks for the link. The RealGM link was useful. I find players personal sites to be more self promoting than anything, so I took what I read there with a grain of salt. 7'1" - 260 is decent size. 1 year as a pro and 2 with the french team leaves him like many other euro's in this draft: A project in which you have to figure out what the potential gain could end up being.
Personally, I don't get how guys like Petro can be regarded as the #1 or #2 pick in 2005, then when they declare for 2004 they plummit all the way down to pick #20. Is that an indication of how tough the draft is? The same thing happened with Pavel Podkolzine.

If he's really that good, his number will come back down, or someone will get a steal out of him with a later pick. In drafts like this years, I'd bet on the latter. The GM's who do thier homework are going to be the teams who come out on top in this draft.
