Head Coach Rumor -- Kenny "The Rocket" Smith <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors are getting serious about filling coaching vacancies. You have to wonder: Why are the Warriors keeping Eric Musselman from becoming a candidate for these jobs? Feel free to draw these conclusions: The rift between Musselman and Warriors management is so big, Bob Rowell would rather pay his soon-to-be ex-employee $1.5 million than see him coach elsewhere in 2004-05. Chris Mullin already has an agreement in place with his next coach -- did someone say Kenny Smith? -- so he's not risking losing his man to another team that hires first. </div> Full Article: http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,14...2141242,00.html I found this snippet in the Oakland Tribune today. This is the first time I've heard Kenny Smith's name tossed into the coaching arena for the Warriors. For me it's a tough sell because Kenny doesn't have any coaching experience outside of celebrity charity games. I'd imagine Kenny to want to play a different style of basketball than what Musselman was trying to build with the Warriors. It would be interesting to see if Kenny pushed to get a dominant big man, since he had most of his success playing with Hakeem, or if he opened up the offense and built his squad around guards and speed.
Kenny Smith the So Called New Warriors Coach?? Just a Rumour till it's either confirmed or denied by the Warriors
Why the Warriors are so hell bent on rushing Musselman out of town is beyond me.. I realize winning 37 games isn't exactly cause to set the world on fire, but after losing Arenas and Jamison in the post season, winning 37 seemed like an impossibility at the start of the season.

This is now Mullins team and it will be interesting to see what kind of moves he makes this off season. If he is going to fire Muss, he needs to do it soon.
Firing Musselman now may not be as simple as it appears. Yes we should do it now if we're going to do it in the future anyway, but let's say Jrich or Murphy want Musselman to stay. Then it will be become very political. We could be losing franchise players next offseason like the pacers would have lost Jermaine O'neil if he knew Rick Carlisle was coming in to replace Isiah Thomas. We know Damp's gone for sure because he's just sick of having new coaches every two seasons or so. But I would rather they keep Musselman on until Jrich or Murphy gets re-signed.
Good point Custodian. It would be devastating to this franchise if we were lost these type of players. I just wish we knew what the hell is going on behind closed doors. For all we know they could be working on an extension.
