what is with christie's post basket salute?

i notice he does it even when they score a basket he had nothing to do with. is there any kind of story behind this? or is it just his in game ritual type thing?

kinda bugs me for some reason

I've noticed this since his Raptor days. I thought he was doing it because he was Catholic, and I actually had a appreciation for it. But when I found out what it really is, it kinda disgust me. What a puss.
