If there is one area he has been lacking in this entire season, it's been his jumper. Early in the season, he had absolutely no perimeter game, he could shake defenders and get open looks but his jumper was a flat line drive and he'd always hit the front or back of the rim and brick the ball. He couldn't hit anything, in the second half of the season there was a major difference, he started attempting mid-range jumpers and 3's and actually made unlike earlier in the season. There was a noticeable difference in his shooting mechanics between the first and second halves of the season and his shooting motion is more smooth and fluid now rather than a jerking motion like it was earlier, his shot now arcs like it should instead of being a line drive. In the off season, you can be guaranteed he will be working on his long range shooting making him an even more of a threat. Developing a good jumper is going to be the final key to Lamar's greatness and on top of all the national exposure he is now getting as opposed to when he was on the Clippers, he will without a doubt be an all star next year and for many years to come. Also just a note, for about 90% of the season right up until the end, he wasn't really aggressive at all and always did finger rolls which missed most of the time, now he's more aggressive and instead of finishing with a wimpy finger roll which used to be his signature move, he's now throwing it down like a man his size should be and he's a really powerful dunker very similar to Amare. I didn't really have any purpose in making this thread, just had to get this off my chest . Discuss.
Well Bob McAdoo will have a hell of a job this summer cuz i'm sure he's gonna be teaching Wade how to shoot mid-range and 3s With Lamar and Wade loaded with Jump Shots, they will be unstoppable next year and years to come GO HEAT!
I'm loving Odom though, even though his jumper has been lacking he still manages to hit some big shots at times, he hsould take 1000 shots a day like Pierce is doing. He also needs to work on finishing strong at times, sometimes he's a little lacking in that. Wade needs to also take 1000 shots a day, but one thing he shouldn't do is start launching up outside shots because he can now make them, a lot of players do that and its not a good thing.
part of why he's more aggressive is because he has bulked up, and now can bang with the best of them. another thing I've noticed is that he has been handling the ball with a lot more flair, pulling some moves (behind the back dribbles, etc) not many big men have. I think he's practicing with Skip. He obviously has a ton of talent, and if he gets a couple notches better, expect for the comparisons to KG to start.
Can't wait to see what this guy does next year, he is fo real. When Lamar Odom was on the clipper's i didnt think anything of him, gosh i thought Keyon Dooling was better than him. Lamar Odom is really a special player he has immense talent, if he works with skip on his dribbling and Bob McAdoo on his jumper he will be unstoppable. MIP of 2004.

I feel, he's really good, but as said seeing as he's being compared to KG, I've always seen him as sort of unbalanced in terms of girth and strength. He's lanky and doesn't really overpower any of the other powerforwards, other than that he's so great at everything else. Once he works on conditioning, power and improves his shot, he's going to be an all-star. He does so much for the team as a scoring option.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Magic Johnson:</div><div class="quote_post">He's lanky and doesn't really overpower any of the other powerforwards</div> That's because he's a natural small forward, but when he came to Miami he had to play out of position at PF.
KG ain't exactly karl malone either. chris webber's arms are twice the size. plus odom has put on some muscle. there was even an article on the miami herald about that.
