<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK (AP) -- The Charlotte Bobcats officially joined the NBA on Monday after majority owner Bob Johnson made the final payment on the team's $300 million expansion fee. The Bobcats become the league's 30th team and will begin play next season. ``We are delighted to welcome the city of Charlotte back into the NBA,'' commissioner David Stern said. Johnson, chief executive officer of Black Entertainment Television, was awarded the expansion franchise in January 2003. The Bobcats will select at least 14 players from the other 29 NBA teams in an expansion draft June 22. Teams will be allowed to protect eight players, and no team may lose more than one player. </div> Source: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-b...ov=ap&type=lgns
Welcome Charlotte Bobcats. We hope yoy guys will be a great team coming in the NBA. Good luck for the first year - that's the toughest.
Good Luck Charlotte, did they really name there franchise because bob wanted his name in the team name? 'BOB'Cats?
Welcome to the league Charlotte, how many seasons before they have a winning one? Make a guess. 3-5 seasons
With the division they are in, they could be a playoff team in 2-3 years. There division is the biggest joke in the NBA.
The name was chosen out of over 1,000 name suggestions by the people of Charlotte/Charlotte area. Out of those thousand, 997 were eliminated. We had the Charlotte Flight, Charlotte Dragons, or the Charlotte Bobcats. Thank Gog they chose "Bobcats"! Anyways, I predict that we will have a winning season our FIRST season! (Weak Division, 4th pick in the NBA Draft, a billionaire owner, and just plain gut feeling)
True true..all we need is a good draft pick and to sigh a star like Kove or Tmac but that wont happen. But I really think the Cats can make the playoffs next season...I really do.
First of all welcome and enjoy the stay. I think cause of the weak division they will make it in the playoffs but will be eliminated in the first round. They need a good coach and not just a superstar but a team. There is more to basketball than just one superstar in your team. Look @Orlando Magic. T-Mac is amazing but still no winning team. Bobcats will do well in the first season. I dont know why but there is something that tells me that this will work out just fine for Charlotte

Bobcats is a pretty cool name, it is rather different for once. Good luck to them, I pretty much agree with Shape, 4-5 seasons. Newbies take a long time to bloom, that goes the same for teams as well rather than just players, staff and people.
I think that it's going to take at least until their 2nd season before they become a team with a winning record. It all heavily depends on who they get in the expansion draft, who they snag in the draft, and, if they manage to sign any big name free agents this offseason and the next. But, I think it'll be probably 3 years before a .500 record comes their way.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trip:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd say 3 seasons before they get to .500 ball. Playoffs in at least 5 seasons.</div> .500 ball in the East is playoffs.
