I want to let those posters out there who are looking for a really good special presentation on basketball to try to catch this show.

It's currently playing on HBO and is only an hour long.

Why do I think it's a worthwhile watch?

Well, I'm sure the immediate reaction for some will be to roll thier eyes and say "there goes hagrid, plugging the C's again". Well, truth be told, I'm quite proud of the franchise I love, but that's not the reason.

Especially for the younger generation, I think this is a valuable educational piece for helping to not only understanding the early days of the NBA, but also to help clear up many of the misperceptions inherent in Bill Russells public legacy.

Not only those points, but for people like myself who abhore racism, it paints a horrific betrayal of the racial inequities of the time and what black athletes had to endure in America.

I think for those who have never seen it (I've seen it a half dozen times at least), it will bring alot of key issues into specific light. Among those issues, are how Russell changed the game of basketball, the misperceptions of his personality and truly brings to light what a truly, truly special man he is.

I hope there are those out there who will find the time to watch this special and share thier thoughts. Those that have already seen it, or have any stories or thoughts they want to share about Russell, they would be greatly appreciated.

I know I'm biased, but there really isn't enough superlatives to describe the man and his greatness, both on and off the court.

    Thanks for your time.

Ah, I missed it, it's going to be on again on June 23, so I'll try to watch it then.
