Olowokandi is a hole in the center

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Olowokandi was overheard saying to teammate Gary Trent: "I'm a scorer. They have to get me the ball."

This could be the problem. The Wolves are looking for a rebounder and a shot blocker when Olowokandi is on the court. With that scenario, Olowokandi would get his points by putting back an offensive rebound, or by getting an open shot inside when his defender has left to double-team Kevin Garnett.

Olowokandi does not appear to view himself as strictly a rebounder and shot blocker. He's waiting for the Wolves to run some sets where the goal is to pound the ball inside to him in a post-up situation.

The statement was, "I'm a scorer."

Coach Flip Saunders had a rhetorical response: "What is Michael's highest average in the NBA? Twelve, isn't it? As I said, where Michael can help us is rebounding, blocking shots, playing good defense."

Olowokandi played five seasons in Los Angeles with the Clippers after being the NBA's first overall draft choice in 1998. His highest scoring average was 12.3 last season, and that came in only 36 games.

Saunders also continues to offer Olowokandi's missed training camp as a possible reason for how often he looks lost, both on offense and defense.

The less-kind assessment inside the Wolves' camp is that Olowokandi is stubborn, even a know-it-all.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was an assistant with the Clippers. The reports were that Olowokandi did little extra work with him. In Minnesota, Kevin McHale is available after almost every practice, and Olowokandi does not often stick around to work with him.</div>

He has been non-existant in the series against the Kings. He has also hurt the Wolves by commiting stupid fouls, turning the ball over and just not playing well. The team does need offense but they also need him to be more of a defender. The only reason he is getting minutes is because of his size. If Madsen was a bit taller, he would be getting more minutes. He looks like he can't play at this level. He doesn't work on his game when he has such great teachers in Kareem when he was with the Clippers and now Kevin. That won't help alot. Sometimes he looks like he doesn't care but in the article it says he does but it doesn't always look that way. He has to start to contribute.

Well, he was hot at the end of the season, but in the playoffs it is like he has never played the game before. He is forcing up shots, which he usually does, but now they look even more horrible than before. And he is also playing bad defense, he just needs to be that big body we need, not another scorer. We have enough of those.

That'll be hard. This guy is hardly worth his contract.
