What were you thinking in the final seconds of Game 5?

Me: "11.5 is a lifetime..."

Me: "WTF?! Duncan?! Clutch??? Nooo waaaaaay."

Friend: "It's over. It's soooo over."

Me: "It's not over yet... 0.4 seconds is still legally possible...Lakers have pulled miracles before...Lakers have pulled miracles before... "

Me: *runs down the hallway screaming & chestbumping with fellow laker fans*

 

I thought we were #$%*ed, to put it bluntly.

 

i was listening the game online from one of the links emo gave us in this Laker forum... When the Spurs had the lead at 70-71.. I thought if the Lakers can't knock anything on the ensuing possession, it's gonna be over... but "Kobe dribbled and shot a 20 footer and... it's GoooDdd!" I was jumping up and down on my computer chair and slammed my fist twice but not hard, just a "you got it boy... you got it" motion... and yelled all i could, "whooooo .... kobbeeeeee!" and that's still 11. sth second left in the game.

I knew right then the Spurs were gonna give the ball to Duncan, all I hoped then was for the Lakers to play a "clutch" defense and play it right, make one last stop please... "and Duncan shot it over Shaq anddd.... ooooooooooooohhh" then it went mute for a while so i didn't know what was really going on... and it went on again and all i can hear was their fans were so loud and hysterical obviously happy... i went real silent that time... shit, was the shot good? and then i heard the announcer said, "can you believe he made that shot?" I thought? who? Kobe earlier? who dammit? "I mean it was OVER SHAQ..." then i just buried my head in my hands... but the dark moment wasn't long, for i thought there was still 4.6 seconds in the game! (although there was only 0.4 seconds). I thought Kobe is gonna get the ball, create for himself and no matter how sticky Bruce Bowen is Kobe is gonna make the shot, this is Ruben Patterson II baby... had I known it was only 0.4 second left, I think I would have turned everything off and checked the disappointing result a little later.

After timeouts and timeouts... finally it's "Gary... looking up for an open teammate... (by now I thought Gary was dribbling the ball... what's taking him so long??? there's only 4.6 seconds left and how many seconds you holding that ball already pass it!) and now Derek Fisher ("whattt? where's kob..?") (the announcer was saying it very quick) he launched it over Ginobili and IT'S GOOOODDDDDDD!!!! IT LEFT HIS HANDS IN TIMEE! DEREK FISHER! by now, I don't know how to describe my emotion, I was very very nervous like I was actually on the floor to make the last play... i couldn't breathe and I wanted everything to end real quick... and now Fisher buried it and i didn't even yell anything, it just brought a huge grin to my faceeee... and i finally let it go... "whooooooooo fishhhherrrrr....!!!! whooooooooooohhhhhhhh!!!!""

 

I was heartbroken when Duncan hit that shot. After that I thought this series was going to end up like last year. But when Fisher hit that shot I just said "WTF???" Amazingly it counted and now the Lakers are on the verge of winning this series in LA.

 

Let me see.... Well I was completely surprised that the Lakers lost a 16 Point lead in the first place. But when Tim Duncan hit that shot, my heart was broken. I was with at least 5 of my friends, 2 of them were putting money on the Spurs. They both jumped up and literally pulled their pants down, and started laughing in my face. I didn’t say a word, nor show any emotion. I just told them that "The game isn’t over. There is still more time". But they were to busy celebrating. Anyways Derek Fisher got the ball, and as soon as he released it...My friend face turned completely blank. He knew it was going in. As soon as it went in, I could have sworn I saw tears come down his eye, since we're betting for $20 per game. But, boy did that feel so good when that shot went down. When they confirmed it, after they showed the replay. I was running around the house like a madman! And that's my little story.

 

I was at my friends house. I tell em that the Lakers are playing so he turns on his TV. Its on commercials then we like yeah whatever. When the game got back, they showed a replay of what happened in the last 5 seconds. Im not a Lakers fan so heres what happened:


Me: "Yeah! Look at tha score! Lakers gonna lose and Spurs goin to the Ship!

Friend: "No shutup, there still a bit of time left. Watch Kobe make it"

Me: "Im watching, they gonna have em all guarded"

Friend: "Lets just watch and see what happens"

When Payton threw the ball to Fisher I was thinking like "Why tha hell are they passing it to Fisher?"

I see em shoot a turn around jumper...and make it...I was mad, they did a bigass comeback for this...My friend was rubbin it on my face.

 

Between the time Duncan made the shot and the inbounds play all I could do was console myself. I was really pissed at the Lakers for giving up such a huge play. I was also thinking about how small the Lakers' chances were in getting this far in the playoffs again after once again getting beat by the Spurs and having everyone leave...I was feeling like dog poop and it was the worst I'd felt since last year's Game 5. Thank God for my main man, Derek Fisher!!

 

After kobe made that shot and duncan had the ball, I was thinking, they were gonna do a pick n roll and was kinda nervous but we were playing perfect D. Duncan does that offbalence fadeaway with shaq in his face and I was thinking no way thats going in but it does. I threw my remote at the wall and just sat there on the couch in disbelief. It wasnt exactly duncans shot that got me mad, it was the fact that we had a 16 point lead and I thought we had this game in the bag and we blew it. With only .4 seconds left, yeah I though our season was over. I didnt turn the TV off but I wasnt really watching at this point. Im just sitting there not really paying attention to anything but then, the next thing I know, al michaels is screaming, DEREK FISHER SCORES AT THE BUZZER!! And I see everyone running across the floor like a riot broke out or something. I didnt start celebrating until I saw the replay and it showed he got the shot off in time. I dont think I have ever gone from so depressed to so happy so quickly. Damn, I love this game. :mrgreen:

 

I just believed that we could win that, were pretty much one of the best clutch teams right now But i was still surprised when Fisher hit that one, it was like .... an alien really unbelievable, if we go on were unbeatable

for some reason, i didnt think they'd lose. i was expectin kobe to hit the shot. but FISHER!!!! when he made it, i started screamin and the only other laker fan on the street ran inside to tease his cousin bout it

 

I cursed my butt off when Tim hit that shot. I felt like walking outta my room, then I told myself to hold up. They still might have a chance, even though I didn't believe myself. When Fisher got the ball, my went blank. Then it looked like it went into slow motion. Swish! I turned into Lil Jon and Tiger Woods. There after I started running all over the house.

 

I didn't get to see this game. I was actually sitting in the movie theater watching Troy. But, when I saw the highlights when I got home, I was still unaware of who'd won the game. So, when DFish hit that shot, I was like, HELL YEA, that was *insert explative here* sweet!!!!!!!

i was like LUCK. i also was think Dang i feel stupid. (after the duncan shot i immediate called my friend who was a laker fan and take a gang of trash about it being all over)
They started the clock late anyways...

 

Duncan took like 4 steps when he hit that shot. Now the Spurs are complaining that Fisher's shot was too late. It doesnt matter anyways because after Duncan made that shot, it was suppose to be .8 seconds.

I'm guessing you aren't clear what a travel is

My thoughts at the time was

"You can't get off a shot in 0.4 and certainly not the way Fisher caught and turned" and I still feel that way. It's impossible but whats done is done.

 

I was watching alone:

Me (after Duncan made the shot over Shaq): Tangina mo Shaq! Lamon! (Filipino curse. I said "You *&(&^*&^ Shaq! In your face!!!"

After Fisher hit it:

Me: Putang Ina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 (Another curse word). I wanted to peel Fisher off the TV and kill him.

 

Me: 11.5 seconds of our season. Play some f****** defense!!

Me: After I saw Shaq play excellent defense on Tim Duncan, and after he just seemed to throw it up there, I just thought that ball is clanking off the backboard. But it was nothing but net, and my heart just sank.

Me, Dad & Siblings: My dad and I are both Laker fans, so we just sat at the screen 'till the Lakers came out ready to throw in the ball for the final 0.4 seconds. We both had the deer in headlights look. My sisters who are Kings fans, were trash-talking whispering how the Lakers were in trouble, and laughing at the thought of the Lakers possibly being down 3-2.

Me & Dad: Once again, my dad and I got very close to the TV screen, my heart was pounding uncontrollably, each having that deer in headlights look for a second time.

Me & Dad: We both screamed to the top of our lungs, I ran around my house just screaming the word FISHER about 5-10 times. My dad picked up the chair he sat in and started shaking it. I have no idea about that reaction, LOL. As for my Laker hating siblings, they stood there transfixed at the screen in shocking amazement to what they saw before their eyes.

I forgot Sactown dyme and Melo Baby gurl were your sisters, it just came to my head all of sudden. I wish I was watching that game with Laker haters. It would've been even better.
