Now that the imperial sith is gone from miami. What will miami do with there situation. Will they totally dismantle the team and start from scratch. Make a pr move upstairs and clean house also?

What about the lost draft picks. Will the phins trade ricky williams rights for mid rd picks. There's speculation on pewter report with ricky's name in tampa next year with the doubt of garner and alstott not coming back. Also there is speculation the raiders may have interest in ricky or travis henry.

Im curious what miami fans think will happen and what can the phins do to better the team. According to john clayton, miami is 20 mill over the cap or will be. I think the obivious fix is the offensive line. Atleast get some decent players they dont have to be superstars. I think with the first overall pick miami will select matt leinart or rodgers from cal or possibly moving down the draft and getting more picks.

    Any thoughts?

I think they should try to sign Drew Brees in the offseason as a free agent, for starters. I know the Pack will probably try for him, too, but he'd be great for Miami...if they can afford him.

I'd also trade my first round pick (a high one at that) for as many lower picks as I could get to draft, as you said, some offensive line help.

They should probably start by approaching all of their high priced talent to talk about contract re-negotiations. The Packers are the masters of doing that to keep cap numbers down. Whoever does that in Miami's front office better get started now. It's going to be a loooooong offseason for the 'Phins.

Miami needs to draft defense, the line is just young, they will be good. the whole offense is young, give it time . . oh but get brees for sure.

I also think that picking up someone like Travis Henry or Anthony Thomas would be a good idea. It's obvious that you can't win in the NFL without at least some semblance of a running attack.

I dont know how 'valuable' travis henry is, but A-Train should be extremely valuable, maybe the bears will be smart and keep him. As for T-henry i dont know how many teams are going to be interested in an undersized, injury prone, fumbler.

The best part is, the Eagles have Miami's second round pick. So, it's most likely that we'll have the 32nd and the 33rd picks in the draft next year.

Seriously though, they need to play AJ Feeley, to see if he can be the future. It's a tough situation for a team with sooo many veterans, a team that was built to win. Tough...very tough

You think eagles will trade the 30th pick in the draft to the super bowl champ? I dont know that they will get a lot for moving 2 spots

You may not think much of Travis Henry, but he'd be a huge, inexpensive upgrade to Sammy Morris, Travis Minor and Leonard Henry. He's not a bad receiver, either...

It is like a poor mans ahman green, all the fumbles 60% of the production.

    Anthony Thomas's numbers from 2001 - 2003

    39 Games Played
    736 Rushes
    2,928 Yards
    4.0 Yards Per Carry
    19 Touchdowns

    55 Recepts
    377 Yards
    0 Touchdowns

Travis Henry's numbers over the same three yea period, 2001 - 2003

    44 Games Played
    869 Attempts
    3,523 Yards
    4.1 Yards Per Carry
    27 Touchdowns

    93 Receptions
    646 Yards
    2 Touchdowns

You are right about the fumbles, though. Henry has 23 and Thomas only has 6.

so the question is would you give up 17 possesions for a slightly better pass catcher? They pretty much have exact same YPC. I would attribute his extra catches to the fact that buffalo had a better QB over that stretch. He also had more TDs because he played on better offense.

I don't think Miami's defense needs to be the focus in the upcoming offseason. And I also don't think any of the Miami QB's are the answer including Brees. If Matt Leinart and USC wins the national championship again, look for Matt to leave USC early as he is a Jr. right now. Or they could try and get Jason White from OU. There will be a stud free agent RB so Miami won't have to worry about that. But I guess it all depends on what kind of offense the new coach wants to run.

I hope Jim Bates does a good job and is retained as coach. I hear nothing but good things about him. The players say hes the opposite of Wanny in approach. All the defensive players are saying the offensive players will love him once they get to know him. To be honest, I like the direction they are going in with the offense. The whole unit is young and talented. That should mean production sooner or later. The defense is old and needs to be retooled. They have some young talent on defense already. Poole, Howard, and Surtain set them at CB for the next 5 years and none of that trio is over 28. The OLBs are young assuming they retain Greenwood, whos a FA to be and Eddie Moore is the answer on the other side. If Bua can replace Zach Thomas in a few years, they have the answer at MLB too. They do need a young SS to learn from Knight. The real rebuild job is on the D-Line. Tim Bowens is already retiement age and Larry Chester will be 30 next season. They seriously need a couple of young, large 2-gap tackles if they want to continue to play their scheme. Jason Taylor is amazing, but hes 30 also and David Bowens is just 27, but he hasnt been all that productive. Unless a franchise QB or LT is available when they draft, down and stockpile picks the Jimmy Johnson way....

Also there is two other free agent rbs who will be out there. Edgrin james who says he wants to play for miami. Shaun alexander also. I really think travis henry stock went down this year. His production this year has been shit. If anything i think a mid rd pick would pry henry from buffalo. As for the phins i think if leinart or rodgers are avalible you have to start at qb. Trading williams rights to get mid rd picks means they could take a really young good rb in the middle rds or take players on the line.

If I were Philly, I'd package the low 1st (theirs) & high 2nd (Miami's) and move up to the 14 to 19 range.

I would settle for a pair of 3rd's for Ricky whether it be Al Davis or Gruden. If Philly truly is interested, see if they can't get the high 2nd in '05 back i.e Ricky for rofor what was Miami's #2 in '05 and a 3rd in '06.

THere is some question as to whether Spielman s/b canned. I think he's done okay. The Gordon & Booker moves were made out of desperation.

Team Pres Eddie Jones is retiring so it might not hurt to bring in fresh blood all the way around.

My wish list for coach is as follows; Crennel (Patriots), Linehan (Vikings O co cord), Palmer (Texans O Co ord), Urban Meyer (U of Utah), Ferentz (U Iowa), & Al Groh (U Virginia).

I say trade down and get extra picks. A masher @ ORG is needed. Tim Bowens will probably retire & getting a replacement would not hurt. I would not be opposed if they drafted Derrick Johnson (U Texas LB).

Feidler should go away. The job s/b Feeley's and Rosenfels s/b the backup. I say get a relative unknown for the 3rd stringer. LeFors @ Louisville and Gradkowski @ Toledo have impressed me everytime I seen then this yr.
