What is really needed in Hornet land? Now we all know about the situation with Mashburn, and in my eyes he should/hopefully will not be here next season, so what else needs to be done. I think depth is one thing that needs to be addressed, and also some positions in the starting lineup need to be looked at. New Orleans isn't loaded on cash so their's no chance of a huge free agent barrage. It's settle that Baron is the franchise player, and we have some good big men in Magloire and PJ, and the young PF who will soon be taking PJ's spot in David West. Now we have the 18th pick in the draft which isn't bad at all, guys that could be available at that position are Dorrel Wright, Luke Jackson, Ryan Gomes. Their's the mid-level which can be used to sign a pretty good SF, so if Mashburn is out we have a replacement, and if not it adds more depth to the team. Baron, Wesley, Mash, PJ/West, Magloire, those (SG-SF) are the 2 key positions in terms or starters and/or backups. I like DA (Armstrong) as the backup PG, he might be older, but he brings energy can pick passing lanes, and is still able to stroke from outside and distribute. Wesley is good but his age is also catching up to him, and their's still the man named Courtney Alexander buried on the bench, could he be a useful addition next year? Mash is plagued with a lot of things, age, injuries, the whole thing, if he remains he causes a lot of problems because he likes to dominate the ball and he's a defensive liability while also not being as effective as he was before. As a replacement FA SF, their are guys like Rodney White, Stephen Jackson could play the three, Marquis Daniels (okay he's out), Darius Miles (I dunno, also restricted to Portland), Morris Peterson (I'm a Raptors fan so no), and others. I'm not liking the situation with FA SF's, but another need could be a backup C, does Tractor Traylor satify that need? I don't mid him but if he had lost weight and was able to play more than 15 minutes a game he'd be better than just a 7th or 8th man. What do people think about signing him back to another little contract, or should another reserve be explored, maybe someone like Adonal Foyle? So as a finished product the team being shown one man deep could be: Baron-Armstrong Wesley-Alexander- Draft Pick Mash (maybe)-FA SF-Draft/Draft Pick West - PJ or PJ-West Magloire- FA C/ Tractor
I really like your idea of bringing in SJax. I was thinking and always thought offense is truly what they need right now. Magloire and Brown provide good personality along with size, defense and rebounding ability. We need an established and talented scorer with versatile abilities but more of scoring. That being because B Dizzle needs to share or give the load, he's putting in too much. Monster Mash and Wesley would be able to net you some great players. Someone I would have in mind is SJax as you mentioned. I know he's not that much of a scorer, but since he might be let go, you could also try to get your hands on the workhorse, Malik Rose. He'd be good simply for morale and boarding. That's a great addition for any team regardless of how good you are.
