I really expected that we would get torched last night by the Colts. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the team fought back after that initial play where we lost 28 yards. The defense played pretty well considering we were going up against Indy, but they proved that they still can't make a stop when it really counts. Lance Johnstone should be forced to ride the bench for his incredibly stupid late hit on Manning. There were a lot of positives, though. <ul> [*]Burleson is finally starting to look like a very good receiver [*]Onterrio Smith didn't lose anything in the 4 game suspension [*]Bennett had a few good runs, and we all know that it takes him about 2 or 3 games to get back to normal form [*]Most importantly, they proved that they can play without Moss
The negatives were glaring... <ul> [*]Stupid Mistakes. They are always killed by the stupid mistakes [*]Defense still sucks. They make a few big plays, but can't seem to make a stop when it counts [*]Can we pay for an interception? Our DB's can't catch at all
I was impressed they hung in the game like they did. The special teams stepped up quite a bit in leiu of the defense, who had their good moments too. Its gotta feel good to see the depth at RB and TE keeping things afloat this year. The Vikes will be OK once they get Moss back.
I heard they are going to rename the city minnsota. They are taking out the "E" because there is nothing close to D in that city
You mean the state? The city would be minnapolis So what do the Vikings need to do to get a good defense? It seems as if they have good players in most positions, they just can't put it together.
ESPN just called Minnesota's linebacking corps the worst in the NFL. Harsh words... The front four seems fairly solid, though. Don't know much about their secondary...

Don't know much about their secondary...</div> The front four has been decent, but they need to get more consistent pressure on the QB. I actually think that the secondary is middle of the road at worst. They get a lot of passing yards on them because most teams end up abandoning the run against the Vikes. Granted, they are not great, but they are definitely decent enough if the rest of the team is playing. The linebacking corps are pretty horrible, but we also have had no stability in those positions. Injuries and rookies have turned any linebacking position into a revolving door. I couldn't even name who are starting MLB is going to be next week...it changes all the time. The linebackers are another reason that our pass defense is so horrible. Teams aren't really going deep on the Vikings, they are throwing over the middle and underneath. The linebackers are usually WAY out of position. Harsh words indeed, but probably true.
