<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SupraJames:</div><div class="quote_post">Kareem's take on Yao so far Imagine Yao with sky hook??? </div> Kareem is right about the Ewing thing... Pat shot much more jumpers than Yao should ever do... He should be a real low-post threat with that sky-hook in his arsenal... He would be unblockable...
I agree with Abdul-Jabaar. And this quote brightens my day. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And that someone, Abdul-Jabbar said, could be him. If asked, Abdul-Jabbar said he would be more than willing to help Yao with a sky hook. </div> Hope the Rockets can capitalize on his words and maybe hire Kareem to help Yao develop. Patrick Ewing was great, but never the kind of player that Kareem was.
Yah, I don't know if Yao will ever get that privilege of being coached by Kareem himself though. Damn China and their national commitments!!! Free Yao!!!!
I agree that Yao is a mean streak and a sky hook away from being the most dominant force in tha game, and I hope the Rockets at least consider Kareem as a possible consultant for their coaching staff...Ewing was a great player but was mostly a face-up post, which is not the direction in which yao needs to focus...
Yao doesn't need anyone to teach him anything, it's on HIM to become an aggressive player, it's on HIM to become a truly great player, it's on HIM to develop his game.
Kareem is a nice guy and imagine Yao with a sky hook........ scary..... he's already dominating and starting in the all star game over shaq imagine what he would do to the league with a sky hook. Like RocketLaunch said it's up to Yao and his determination if he is truly going to improve or not.

Kareem is not the best center of all time, I'd have to give that nod to the center with 11 rings... I never saw West help develop Jordan, or Chamberlain help develop Shaq, the Kandi man had Elgin Baylor to help him out, did it help? Right now he already has one of the top 5 or so best centers of all time and he's still not as good as Ewing was, in the end it's still going to be on HIM.
Fine. Having one of the best centers of all time help you with your game doesn't hurt. The Kandi man is nowhere near Yao thank you very much. Patrick Ewing is not the top 5 center of all time. I'd take Wilt, Olajuwon, Kareem, Russell, and Shaq over Ewing easily. Kareem teaching Yao with that sky hook will be a more potent player than whatever Ewing will ever be able to teach Yao.
You'd take Shaq over the Patrick Ewing for one of the 5 best centers of all time?? Whoa boy you been in a shelter if you dont know what Ewing has done in the NBA. Shaq has done a lot, I mean a lot a lot but Ewing has just done so much that it's too much to explain.
As a player, Shaq is more dominant than Ewing. Feel free arguing with me. I like good healthy arguments
I wish Kareem or Olajuwon would come and help Bosh in Toronto, Bosh has no post up skill whatsoever, it's all face up taking his man off the dribble.
Toronto should pick up Ewing as Bosh's coach because Bosh is too skinny (for now) to back down anyone anyways and Ewing's a face up player. Good fitting there. Yao can have Kareem and learn to dominate with back against the basket + skyhook

Shaq might single-handedly be the most dominant player ever, while Ewing just failed to win the Finals against Olajuwon and the Rockets. Another guy who could be on the top 5 would be David Robinson. He is better than Pat Ewing IMO.
shaq has kobe, that hasn't hurt shaq build his resume up. it is really a shame that pat never won a title, he busted his balls his whole career for the knicks and got nothing in return (ring-wise).
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I don't think he really understands how to use his height when he's in close at the basket. He wants to come out to 15 feet, where he can shoot over anybody. He can do that, but if he can get in closer to the basket and then operate from there, taking the six-foot shot, the high-percentage shot, that would really help his game. He doesn't play the game that way at this point in his career. I think he could be very effective (if he played that way)." </div> Yeah that would help his game alot. But at the same time, he kinda has a Kevin Willis problem with his wingspan for his height. I notice that Shaq and other shot blockers change or even block his shots when he tries to shoot over them. Because I think Shaq has an inch and 1/2 reach advantage going upwards over Yao Ming. And Ming is 5 inches taller. Seriously, I have a longer arms then him and I'm 6'1. His reach was at 9'7 stated by Stuart Scott. Anyways, this advice and the rest of the advice Kareem has stated will help Yao's game tremendously. He already has displayed that Hakeem move with those fakes he did on David Robinson. A sky hook definately isn't outta the ?
Wow, first Ewing and now Kareem's willing to teach him the skyhook? Imagine a Yao with a hook. Scary.

I guess we might as well invite the whole Hall Of Fame to coach Yao since everyone's taking such interest in him.
Yao's potential is scary period. Can you imagine him with upper body muscles? The guy's already got some pretty built legs.
