I think he'll be the next Wade, he doesn't really have a comparison to thsoe 2 because he's not even currently playing their position and he's not close to them in his style of play, except for Jordan as a rookie in the sense that he's always lookng to get to the basket. The closests players to him right now would likely be Steve Francis, but that's just in ability, not who they are, with Wade also seeming liek the smarter player. I think he'll be a guy that can get his PPG average in the high 20's range, and he's already a good rebounding PG, and with more experience if he remains at PG his assist will go up, and he can be scary.
Wade is only the third rookie in NBA history to lead his team in scoring during a playoff series, the only other two players were Michael Jordan who did it in his rookie season in 1985 and the other is some guy that i've never heard of that played in the early 50's. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">I think he'll be the next Wade, he doesn't really have a comparison to thsoe 2 because he's not even currently playing their position and he's not close to them in his style of play, except for Jordan as a rookie in the sense that he's always lookng to get to the basket. He definitely will not remain at PG, there are two major priorities this offseason, the first is to acquire a quality big man and the second is to work some sort of deal to get rid EJ which would allow Dwyane to be the 2 and either Skip or someone else acquired in the EJ deal to be the starting PG. Problem is that they will probably have to use half of the MLE on Skip and the other half on a quality big man which would call for a tight budget and we may have to choose one or the other. He may play PG next season if a deal involving EJ cannot be worked out, however he will definitely not remain a PG for the rest of his career. LeWho James?

What about David Robinson?
I'm not sure if he led his team in scoring that series, but Magic Johnson was NBA Finals MVP in his rookie season.

Him + Homecourt= Scary, imagine once he becomes stronger and bigger not to mention honing his skills to the max. I hope he becomes better than all the other rookies, he has the heart and passion that is absent in a lot of the Heat roster.

I dunno though
Wade has made an impact on the league and has proven he can produce in the post-season. He was a big game player in college and I hope he continues to attack the basket next season. The trend I've seen the last few seasons, is players coming into the league with aggression and no fear of taking it to the hole. Then they start falling in love with their jumpshot and they shy away from the contact and explosive moves to the basket. If Wade can find a balance and develop a consistent mid-range jumpshot he will be a premiere guard in the league.
The reason why I made the comparison of Wade and Kobe is simply because Wade was TORCHING the Pacers in almost every single way. I didn't really mean he'll be the next Kobe but the kid was really dominating and the only other player comes to mind in this playoff is Kobe. No doubt though Wade will be the next Wade. Their games (Wade and Kobe) aren't totally similar but the way they dominated.. Wade could've been in purple and gold wearing #8 and I wouldn't know the difference. Wade, in my opinion, is a better PG than Francis even though he's a rookie. He isn't as effective at PG than SG and that is one of the arguments I had about Francis: He's just not a PG and he should be playing SG. The Heat really owe alot of its success to Brian Grant though. He toughed it out banging against big guys like JO, Al Harrington, etc. I agree, Miami is another big man or two away from being one of the Eastern powerhouse. Also with the way Wade and Odom played, I won't be surprised if they can give the Western a little trouble.
Haha I like your sig SupraJames, so true wow. Anyways yea Grant was very physical on JO and he couldn't establish himself well the whole series on offense. The depth on Indy can't save them forever, if JO keeps shooting in low 40% range, the Pacers will fall to the other East Powerhouses. The Heat with a center will become a powerhouse, just think about it, Wade and Odom will improve, Butler god his rythm back towards the end of the year and will also improve, Haslem will get better, and maybe Jerome Beasley will play lol. With a prety good center whats to stop us.
Yeah he will be the first Dwyane. Man last night he almost made me cry with his run in the fourth quarter....that was amazing!!! I just hope that Bob McAdoo gives him series of tough shooting lessons in offseason so next year, Wade will have another weapon to show. Perhaps only thing he needs to get better at right now
It's a little early to begin comparing him to Kobe and MJ. They have different styles of play, and there will never be another player like the two of them. Wade has however played exceptional basketball for the Heat, and he's the main reason they have made it this far. He's already knocking down clutch shots and playing beyond his years. The future is very bright for him. But, 'The Next....?' I don't think so. I agree with hagrid, he just needs to be the first Dwayne Wade, rather than another player. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LeWho James? </div>

I doubt they are able to trade up to that spot (top 5), and grab him. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The"]http://server6.uploadit.org/files/coolbeans-bong.jpg]The[/url] Heat with a center will become a powerhouse, just think about it, Wade and Odom will improve, Butler god his rythm back towards the end of the year and will also improve, Haslem will get better, and maybe Jerome Beasley will play lol.</div> Agreed, but centers that can dominate are so rare now. They definately will not get one with there mid first round pick.
They don't need a dominating big man, all they need is a Jeff Foster type of a big man that rebounds and plays good D.
like someone said above me, I dont think Dwyane is the next MJ or Kobe, he'll be himself, something that really hasnt been seen before
