<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Cue the voice of Jan Brady. Instead of "Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!" I am inserting "Lakers!, Lakers!, Lakers!" Bleep the Lakers. I'm sick of the Lakers. I'm sick of reading about them, sick of watching the world stop when their games are on TV and sick of "SportsCenter" giving them the Red Sox/Cubs/Yankees treatment, breaking down every breath and every movement of every minute of every game. In case you people haven't noticed, we in Northern California should hate the Lakers. Oh sure, Kings fans do, but they are -- for the most part -- myopic yokels. NorCal liking the Lakers should be like Michigan fans cheering for Ohio State, like Georgia fans rooting on Florida, like Texas backers joining Sooner Nation. But it's not uncool because we in the Bay Area can be very lazy sports fans. Oh, the Lakers are winning? Cool, I like them now. Kobe rocks! Disgraceful.</div> http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?.../18/fool287.DTL ---------------------------- How do you bay area fans feel about this?
Sure we should hate the Lakers; I do when the Warriors are playing them but its not the same as Giants/Dodgers or 49ers/Rams because in those situations, the teams doing battle have always been perceived at a minimum equal. Warriors/Lakers has not been equal since what, the Rick Barry/Jamaal Wilkes era, and that only lasted 2 years. (Okay maybe 93-94 when we had Webber/Owens/Sprewell and Magic had retired). Now, the Lakers are compelling theater because they have Malone and Payton with Shaq and Kobe.
I hate the Lakers too. The only thing i care about the playoffs is to see the Lakers lose, and so they can make a big disgrace of themselves. I don't like any of the Laker players, maybe besides Kareem Rush. I hate Fisher who is a flop king and cries so much to the refs when he doesn't get calls when he flops. I hate Fox who is the biggest wannabe prettyboy/stud in the NBA. I remember him taking Fortson to the ground with somesort of a body slam, and Fortson got up, gave him a look and Fox went running behind Shaq: that was classic-what a panzy. I don't give a darn about Phil Jackson and i really don't want to see him win anymore rings because then he'd break the record for most titles, and i don't want to see him do that since he has only coached the best teams in the NBA, and i don't want him to get such a high achievement since he's been so lucky to get MJ and Shaq and Kobe. I am not a big Shaq fan I have never really liked Karl Malone Payton is a cry baby, and he is just waiting for his ring, and i don't like how neither Malone or Payton left their teams like they did. And so yeah, i am not a big Lakers fan at all. And i hope they lose to the TWolves and i hope Kobe leaves this offseason, and Phil retires...That would be a great offseason. Too bad the Spurs played like crap against the Lakers in that series. If they had any offense from Turk, Bowen, Horry, or anyone else, they should had won. DAMN...I think i am going to jump on the TWolves bandwagon right now ...Go KG!
Oh Rudeezy put this on this board too. I was thinking another Lakers bashing thread. Laker haters hate the Lakers with such passion. It's all good though, cause I hate, well I don't really hate any team. Though I didn't and still don't really care to much for the Jazz. I respect John Stockton, Malone, and now AK47 now. But I'd rather watch the Spurs because I litterally fell watching the Jazz play.
It's just an article. If you're from Norcal you got the biggest bandwagoner fans that the world has ever seen with so many California teams to root for. It's all cyclical. When the Clippers and Warriors get hot and the Lakers and Sacramento get cold, watch how those bandwagoner fans switch sides. I should know cuz I know a ton of them. Damn fairweather fans and badwagon fans all of them.
I am a die hard Warriors fan, always have been always will be. The only reason why I wanted the Lakers to win the Championship a few years back was because I grew up idolizing Shaq when he played for the Magic. I was a center and I tried to model my game after physically. Now he has had his time in the limelight and I am ready for someone new. I hope Minnesota goes all the way! I doubt they will though...
I'm a die hard warrior fan too and a patient one at that. When the warriors actually starting making the playoffs consecutively and go deep I'll be one happy mofo. If the warriors ever win another Championship like they did in 1975, I'd be in heaven.
I hate the Lakers because they are the Yankees of basketball. Kobe Bryant, on the other hand, does rock. And if you think otherwise, you are trying too hard to hate this team. You have to be amazed how they perform under pressure (just like the Yankees). What's really disgraceful is how this writer calls on all norcal fans and then immediatly alienats half of them (what other norcal teams are we talking about here?) by slamming Kings fans by calling them hicks. I expect to see this crap on espn boards not in an article. I don't read about Sac or LA writers trashing SF fans as sterotypical "whining queers." So you ask what bay area fans think, and I think it's trash. If the Lakers are pathetic, what are the other teams that have not won 4 out of the last 5 championships. Yeah, I'm talking a little ahead of myself but I think I have to right to when I this moron has this garbage published. It's ok to hate the Lakers. But if you belive everything in this article you are a fool.
The author of this article was joking, he has written some other crap like this aswell. Of coarse he doesn't think the Lakers are pathetic, that is the reason why many hate them, becuase they are that good. I can honestly say that I hate every player on that team with Malone and Payton being at the top of the list. Shaq is the most dominating center of our era and I respect him for that. Kobe is one of the greatest athletes of our era and is the closes thing to Jordan as we may ever see, so I respect him as well.
