    CBS Sportsline Article: "Becoming Decaffeinated"

While reading the Seattle PI Sonics forum, someone posted a link to this great article concerning Howard Shultz and the Sonics. I found this to be very interesting and I agree 100% with what it says.

"The buzz is louder than ever that after three years, Starbucks magnate Howard Schultz has soured on being the majority owner and, in light of the Sonics' struggles, doesn't have the time or inclination to take time away from Starbucks to see the Sonics through their worst period in 30 years. With some 50 minority owners, all of whom have had to respond to a cash call again, one of the most successful organizations of the early to mid 1990s has deteriorated into an unadulterated mess."

It's all true. Schultz and Walker are pretty much despised by Sonics fans. I'd love to see both of them go, as long as the new guys are competent.

I remember an article written by Seattle Times writer Steve Kelley blasting Schultz for being basically a bandwagoner; that being celebrating when we won, but as soon as the tables turned and were weren't travelling so good, he's sit slumped in his seat with his hat over his eyes to to speak, as in trying to make himself go unnoticed.

NBA owners, IMO, need to be more like Mark Cuban and less like Howard Schultz. Cuban loves his team like a son, would do anything for players and will stand up and celebrate no matter what the result is. He is what sport is all about, although fans like that who are also competent in a business sense and financially are indeed hard to find.

One thing seems clear though: Walker and Schultz probably have to go if this team is to get back where it belongs, among the power teams of the West.

Actually, I don't really post there, just a lurker. I've posted there maybe a maximum of about 3 times total.
