I wouldn't say that Jordan himself is some humanitarian to his fans, either. Just a couple days ago he said he would go on stage in Taiwan, speak to fans, and take questions. All he ended up doing was walk around for 30 seconds waving to everyone before promptly leaving. Jordan Brand is apparently now being sued by all those people for a breach of contract or something. Maybe the old Mike was different, I wouldn't know, but this one seems like he just wants to sell as many Air Jordans as possible while spending the least amount of time possible.

I always though Carmelo loved the kids, he always has a huge smile on his face, but appereance isnt everything...and Startellis, I didnt mean he has to be tough because he is from the ghetto, I meant I thought he would of appreciated his fans and everything.

My cousin is only 8 and he told him that. My cousin started crying and Melo just walked off. Its only for TV and pictures. Francisco Elson was at the side getting a couple girls numbers though.

But yeah, Karl Malone was the exact opposit. He came for the last game to watch the rookies play and this lady was guarding him. But yeah me and my cousin walked by and he was like "are u good at ball?" The lady was ready to yell at us, and Karl just waved her off. He talked to us for bout 3 min and sign autographs with us.

But they are being paid millions of dollars and asking for an autograph is just part of the job description. If they don't like it, they shouldn't have entered a business where you are looked up upon by millions of kids.

Onto my rant. Tracy McGrady is probably the worst of them all. I'm one of the biggest Magic fans here, but I CANNOT stand McGrady's personality. I've had several run-ins with him, and I was with a friend when I witnessed his true colors. In simpler terms, he's a jackass.

I've only heard of a few nice guys in the league, which is a shame. David Robinsion being the top player.

It's amazing what the dollar can do to a person.

i understand that the way of telling fans off is disrespectful but as normal fans we dont always consider exactly what those players go through.

signing an autograph may take 10 seconds but if so many ppl want an autograph it could end up taking hours. furthermore, with all the fame, these stars live hard lives bcuz ppl r always stalking them.

if we went into their shoes then we would know exactly how difficult it really is. we shouldnt just look at this form a fan's perspective but also a star's perspective.

also, the bad is outnumbering the good. we shouldnt just say that ALL stars r like this. for example, ive met antonio davis and tracy mcgrady when both were back in toronto and they were both really nice. tmac signed autographs for nearly one hour after an open-practice and ad was at a clinic signing stuff that he didnt need to.

I have read taht about Tmac too, I heard he hates signing autographs..when athletes write checks, they sign their names, when they sign a receipt, they sign there name, and those people arent necessarily fans...how come they say no to the true fans who want their signature on a piece of paper?

Actually T-Mac is pretty nice. My friend got to go into the locker room before a practice one day. He said T-Mac was all cool and cracking jokes the whole time.

Have you noticed a trend with McGrady? He's nice in the locker room, after practice, during open practices, etc.

What about on the streets or in the club? He's a little bitch. I know it's during his free time, but he doesn't have to be rude about it. He shows no respect to women and doesn't like to be put out with anything whatsoever. Real nice. [IMG]

Celebrities aren't normal people. Normal people don't make millions of dollars. Normal people aren't known world-wide by Millions of people. Normal people don't get multi-million dollar endorsement contracts.

If they just want to be "Normal" then take away the camera's, take away all the superflous money, cut out the fame and notariety, and let them play in a regular gym in front of a couple hundred people.

Maybe then, they'll remember why they chose this career path and show some damn respect to the people who make that living possible for them.

let me be the first to say, this makes absolutely no sense. No matter what, the fan is ultimately the NBA's employer. Without us there would be no need for the NBA. If a player can't sign he should say so respectfully and courteously...doesn't give him a right to act like a jerk.

I agree with you Dre. Maybe there just bad people and we should move on.

Respect him as a "player" and his abilities but don't look at him as a Idol or a way of life. Its so tough because kids can't distinguish the difference. Either, they dont know how or no one is there to guide them.

I respect Donald Trumph for his business abilities, but outside of that I feel he is a bad person.

It was when he was with Boston...He was walking out of some place with reporters asking him questions on camera...a little kid ran up to him and asked for his autograph....Anderson responded "buzz off kid" WHILE THE CAMERA's WERE STILL ROLLING .... it made it on all the channels with everyone saying how Anderson represents the "spoiled athlete." After the outcry, Anderson went on some morning show (might have been the today show) and apologized, saying he was cranky that day. He looked at the camera and told that little kid to contact him if he was watching and he would arrange something (I forget what, probably courtside seats or something)......I'm not sure if that kid ever took him up on that offer tho...

I know this. They have to take this into consideration, and learn to adjust to it. They have to have control, and stability, same as with the Kenny Anderson case, which is far forse I think since it aired on national television.

I know that the NBA has that rookie program (don't know the exact name of it) that teaches them about the everyday life of being an athlete, such as finances, community relations and such. I don't know if this is mandatory or not, but if it is then such things as reacting to fan encounters should be taught there. I think it should be common sense by now to every player, even the 12th man when he gets asked for an autograph or just to stop and talk to a fan if the oppurtunity arises, and/or if they have the time to.

You have to look at both sides of the situation, as athletes are very pressured I think, even with all the fame, money, and such. Things such as being in shape. I remember Shape posting a thread about Kobe working out 6 hours a day, on top of running, and basketball and such. So whenever athletes, or celebrities in general get a chance to be them old selves, they don't want any interruptions.

It's a very difficult scenerio to talk about, because I as a fan feel bad about what happened, but then again you have to feel for the player and his privacy.

I know on MTV diary they showed Kanye West going to the mall and signing autographs
for everyone maybe that was just for T.V I dont know but he was real cool about it.

I know Bill Russel didnt sign autographs but he wasnt a jerk about it lol,I remember one of the players from the old Caltics team asked every player that was on the team to sign a team picture for the Red and Bill said you know I dont sign autographs. He said his reason was because kids would come up to him and be rude about it so he just stoped believing in signing autographs.
