<div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-22:</div><div class="quote_post">I know on MTV diary they showed Kanye West going to the mall and signing autographs
for everyone maybe that was just for T.V I dont know but he was real cool about it.</div>
Did you hear what Kanye said about this on Diary. That he will continue on signing autographs until he "falls off." He understands the business side of things, as tough as it may be to tie in with your personal life. His fans get his signature, causing them to like him even more, get his merchandise, his endorsed products, causing him to earn more money.

Of course he is going to be real cool about it, he's new to the mainstream part of hip hop. If he continues on, and has a great 10+ years career, things like this will start to annoy him. It's human nature.

i agree with that guy with an artest avatar....forgot his username. i think that when ppl constantly harrass u for autographs, u should be pissed.

sure these stars make a lotta money and fans give them their money but that doesnt mean they need to sign autographs for u. we pay these players to play ball, not to be good ppl.

well for one, most people don't "harrass"..most people are polite because they realize they are encroaching on personal time. But that being said, there is no excuse for any NBA player to curse and be impolite to a kid asking for an auto.

its their time, they can do whatever the want. and even with 1000000 ppl "politely asking" at once it is annoying enough.

well, hearing that story just made me sick...utterly sick
telling a 16 year old kid who idolizes you to f*** off is just not ok...honestly, that probably crushed the kid and ruined his whole trip, im sure he was depressed for weeks to his his idol act like that
if you are going to be a hero, you should understand that you have a responsibility to be a good person.

With that said, i really think it's not fair to generalize NBA stars like that. I mean one A**hole is just one A**hole. Seriously, you see guys like kobe, jkidd, and mike, who are amazing to their fanbase.
I remember i was at a warriors game and my little brother said hey to antawn as he was walking of the court after an overtime LOSS. He said "hey antawn" and antawn smiled at him and threw my bro his armband that said AJ33, which he still has. I've met michael jordan through a family friend, and he's a great guy. He runs camps, which i've been two, and he lectures, talks, and stays with the kids. He does more than power the camp with money, he makes the camp more enjoyable. Hell, he even puts his kids in the camp!

So i guess you have to look at, for every marbury, there's 5 jordans.

Wilt Chamberlain was a jerk twice to my father. My mom happened to get his autographed but was so pissed at the way Wilt gave my dad that if "looks could kill my dad would be dead look" she threw away his autograph.

Sorry to hear about your cousin dre, oh and I heard J-Lo was a b!tch too.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Startellis:</div><div class="quote_post">well i didnt know steph was a jerk. but as Kobe 8 Ball said he grew up in a rough neighborhood. you gotta be tough i guess. I mean i would have signed the graph is I was in the predicament but I havent been through all that Steph has gone through in his life. In a world full of racism Steph might not like white people. Maybe he feels thoses are who put him through all he went through. And hes just like ftw. all those tats tells me he holds his own and that he is probally a very keep to himself type of person. still all that would be no excuse to curse out a fan.</div>

I dunno, rough neighborhood or not its a lil kid asking to sign an autograph, how intimidating can that be? Full of racism by media, nowadays, black ppl put themselves thru the trouble, white ppl are there to clean everything up and get blamed on by black ppl. Who pays teh money to see them? White ppl, not black. All his money came from white ppl and economics in a market capital industry made by white ppl, NOT black. This so called ghetto they live in, the clothes they wear are more expensive than what I wear and they live a lavish life yet say they came from the rough streets. These rough streets were made BY them then they blame others. If a person gets shot, of course a white/black policeman would come to stop the disturbance and intimidation of other victims. If there was no police, gangs would rule and they would say the suffer way worst. Can't win.

But they are supposed to be role models as well. You would probably be angry too if an athlete were to do that to you, and you'd probably rant about it as well. Its a case of "you wouldn't understand unless it happened to you" type of thing. Sure they annoyed by it, But tellin a lil kid to f*** off is goin extreme, shoulda' said somethin like "man, i've very tired, sorry I can't sign, or i'm very busy right now". For you to use that type of language to a lil' kid is totally innapropriate. THere are way worst type of kids that you'd feel like tellin to F*** off, but a lil kid like that with his dad or so is so inappropriate. Usually ppl that live actual hard lives are very caring and understanding when they are put in better environments, they arent hateful and resentful in that sense. Spoilt ppl are the ones that act totally inappropriate. Marbury is such.

Geez, I thought someone like Marbury would be nice. He should be able to relate. I hope Telfair doesn't end up like Marbury since he's come from a rough hood too. KG's been doing fine, why can't he?

It's just a matter of, usually the rich people aren't as nice. It's life though, some
people are just nice, others are not. The Admiral has always been one of my favorite class acts, he's really genuine. I don't why I don't see any mention or love for one, Miller Time.

first off why would someone put themselves in a struggling situation if you were born there under a family that was sturggling when you came up what are you going to do.

Second off whens the last time a white person cleaned up a black mess pleases give me specifics.

thirdly I guess you are saying blacks dont support the basketball playeers by buying there shoes, jerseys, games tickets, Rap cd's, and movie tickets etc.

and lastly just because of the clothes that you wear now have nothing to do with the neighborhood you came from. And you and me both dont know how lavish there lives are T.V. can bloat up what it wants to bloat up about a person.

oh yeah i Guess you are saying there are no black policeman.......... right.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">I heard D Mase was one of the nicest, Supersonic(Sir Dez) told me.

I have heard from other people too that he will sign autographs for anyone.</div>

Desmond is one of the geniunely nice guys of the NBA, no doubt. You only have to look at his list of community acts - and I don't mean just the 'give money to a charity smile for the camera' stuff, this guy literally goes out of his way to make the world a better place. It's no secret that fans in Seattle were just as gutted when Dez was traded as they were about GP, and the latter was the greatest player the franchise had ever produced.

IMO, the bottom line is the fans pay these guys, and they don't have any excuses for being rude of snubbing off without genuine reason. It's a joke how much these people earn, in comparison to the people in this world that do the work that is truly vital (doctors, teachers etc), and the way some of them act is just maddening and disgraceful.

You can talk about the hard work they put in and the pressures they are under, but the bottom line is they are earning ridiculous amounts of money just because they can run faster, jump higher and put the ball in a basket better than anyone else. If they don't want to sign autographs, then they should give the game away and settle into a 9-5 job on normal salaries.

    Didn't think so.

Reason? No reason shoudl be needed. If you had a little kid as your neighbour and he asked you for your autograph 'cuz he looks up to you, would you decline and cuss in his face? I sure as hell wouldn't. If they aren't gonna respect the average fans questions, they sure as hell don't deserve them. I'd like to meet T-Mac but if he bein' a bitch about it, I'd cuss at him. No one needs to be rudely respected for liking you. If you have fans, fine. If you don't, fine. But if you're gonna be bitchy aabout it an' all, up yours!

    1) He is denying 1 autograph. how many people has he signed one to? I can sure you , that is more than you can count!
You like em playin ball, and thats it, forget the rest, a players personal life, shouldn't be involved in his player profile.
And come on, we are talking about one kid, that didn't get his autograph, is Marbury a BAD person now? no! if he doesn't feel like givin him one, he shouldn't, and he certainly should say it in his own words, and thats OK, don' t ypu think.( why do you think mike bibby has a tat, that says ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME!)

It's amazing how some people think.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">1) He is denying 1 autograph. how many people has he signed one to? I can sure you , that is more than you can count!</div>
Denying one autograph? Of course not. I'm sure these guys have done this numerous times, but now they are exposed to the media. Turning away fans is probably second nature to these guys, they show no class nor respect. Now signing during meet and greets, open practices, etc. is a different story. The camera is rolling and they want to look good.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Everyone, that think they should sign a autograph, come on give them a reason to sign you one!</div>
Well, these guys don't even have to go out of their way - signing paper for 2 seconds sure won't kill them. Going out of their way would mean they would donate their free time to help someone else. Jermaine O'Neal for example, took a fan to her prom because she improved her grades. David Robinsion donated $5 million in 1997 to The Carver Academy. He later donated another $2 million for construction funding and scholarships. All in all he donated $9 million, which I believe is the largest contribution by a professional athlete. I'm not saying everyone has to be like David Robison, most 'normal people' aren't even as generous as he is. BUT, theres no need to tell a fan to 'F off.' I don't care who you are.

Of course these guys aren't role models, and they obviously don't act like them either. However, most children will look up to their favorite star and try to be like them. Honestly, how would you feel if you were a young child who simply asked for an autograph and were told to 'F-off'? You'd be crushed. Most of the players are from the hood, ghetto, or whatever else you want to call it. That shouldn't justify them treating fans poorly. If anything else, they would be nicer to prove they aren't a bunch of hood rats.

Sir Dez said it best: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If they don't want to sign autographs, then they should give the game away and settle into a 9-5 job on normal salaries.</div>

Yeeah! its F0(kin amazing how some people think! how do you know it won't kill them, example: Steph is in a mall, and then someone shouts: hey look over there, isn't that the signing-autograph-automat-Steph? yes it is! hey folkes over here, and then maybe 50 people around him!

and how can you say they treat the fans poorly, when they are playing their ass off every night?

And talking about donating, what the hell has that with signing a autograph?

Maybe Steph is the nicest person, in the whole world, and maybe he had a enormous headache that day, who knows?

    OUT!
