Playoff Changes <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Like most NBA fans, David Stern doesn't like the long wait between games this postseason. As the league's commissioner, he's going to do something about it. ``I can assure you it's going to be tighter next year,'' he said Thursday. Stern said he reviewed a workup of the 2005 playoff schedule during his flight to San Antonio for Game 5 of the Spurs-Lakers series. It includes 14 days for a full series, down from as many as 17 this year, and less waiting time between rounds. Because many NBA teams share arenas with NHL teams, there's the chance for conflict with the hockey playoffs. ``I don't envy our scheduling department,'' Stern said. Another scheduling issue that personally affects Stern is the late hour that Western games finish for fans in the Eastern time zone, such as Minnesota's overtime victory in Sacramento on Monday night that ended about 2 a.m. in the East. </div> Source: I'm glad Stern is making these changes, I know a lot of us on here have been unhappy with the extended delay between games. It has really taken away from the excitement and momentum from previous playoff years.
It might not be good in the 1st round because there is going to be alot of good games airing at the same time.
I agree with the change but the only thing is that you can only watch one game at a time and the teams that go 7 games will be tired if you don't give the rest then the good teams who sweep will have a huge advantage
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warrior:</div><div class="quote_post">Teams should be playing every other day. It's senseless to have 3, 4 days between games.</div> I totally agree. I hate waiting around to watch my team play a game. I don't like waiting for so damn long.
I heard Stern talking about the late end in the East. I believe he said, in kinder words, he really didnt care much because it wouldn't be fair to the people on the West to have their games start and 5 and 6.
The first round this year seemed like an eternity and was very painful to watch. Thank God for these changes.

what is your thinking on this article? the discussion is in regards to changing the current system of eight from the west and eight from the east to 16 regardless of confrence. the obvious change that would make is no more sub .500 teams in the post season. im not a big fan of putting a sub .500 team in the post season, but on the other hand, im not a big fan of just capriciously changing decades of tradition either. <font color="red">Threads merged. ~Dre</font>
