There was an article on the Insider that Cohan's man was Montgomery all along and that Mullin, if in charge, would not have hired Montgomery. He was wanting a former NBA player. Not only did Montgomery not play in the NBA, he has not coached either. This is totally not a "Mullin" guy. This was a PR move for Cohan. Just like hiring Mullin was a PR move. He was booed at the All Star game and wants to be viewed as a "good owner". Your thoughts....If this is the case, Mullin should just quit. I know I would.
I really hope this isn't the case. And if I were Mullin, I wouldn't quit. He worked too hard to get where he is at. These are just rumors and we don't know for certain that this actually did take place. Knowing Cohan, I wouldnt' be suprised.
I'm not that Impressed by Cohan owning the Warriors...If he did indeed do this, that's not cool at all,but again it's a rumour Does anyone here think that Cohan should sell the team?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MR_SAC_KING:</div><div class="quote_post"> Does anyone here think that Cohan should sell the team?</div>Hell yea. The other day on the Rick Barry Show, he was saying how he had a few different organizations/people willing to buy the Warriors and of coarse, they would have named Rick Barry head coach. That would have been interesting. I would be interested to see Rick Barry as an assistant coach.
I also hope this isn't true, but I agree with your comments on Montgomery not being a "Mully" type of guy. If you look at the rest of the people Mullin has on board, they are all former players, Al Attles, Rod Higgins, & Mitch Richmond. The only thing I can think of is Montgomery was brought in to balance that out by bringing in the core concepts and fundamentals of college basketball. Mullin is a smart, no non-sense individual, and I doubt he would be manipulated by Cohen. It's sad to see rumors and stories like this being published already. The new group hasn't even had a chance to play one regular season game and there's already drama surrounding them.
I thought Mullin brought Montgomery in to be the teacher. I think he wanted a guy who would listen to him so Mullin could pretty much call the shots yet have a guy in their that could teach these young players.
I think that Chris Mullin wanted to bring in Montgomery. I read a bunch of articles talking about how Chris and Mike talked a lot together, and after each time they talked Chris was more and more impressed with Mike. I think that Mike brings the X's-and-O's that Mullin wants from his coach(probably a reason why Muss got let go) and Mike is a coach that will have better relationships with his players. Plus Mike didn't even know what Chris Cohan looked like before he was announced as the new head coach and only met during or before his new confrence thing. Maybe Chris Cohan liked Montgomery, but i think that Chris wanted Mike as well. But who knows with the Warriors?
I hardly think that Mully would have taken the vp job if Cohan was going to be pulling his strings. Mully is his own man and makes his own decisions. Everybody here in Socal think that the Warriors lost their mind by hiring Montgomery but, I tell them that I rather take the big risk with Montgomery than get a retread coach. I will tell all the Warriors fans not to panic Mully knows that in order to become a winner you have to take the risk. I for one will reserve judment until the new season is halfway done. Go Warriors

I want Mullin to be involved in every decision made and see where that takes us. I keep hearing about Mullin planning for the future and that in three years we will start seeing results. I hope it doesn't take that long. Our patience is running thin.
No, I think Montogmery was a Mullin guy all along. Montgomery kept talking about how he and Mullin had lots of conversations to the point where Mullin wanted to work with Montgomery on rebuilding the warriors organization. Since they are both new to their respective positions, they could work together with the same philosophies. The philosphy is that the warriors need to be able to play as a team with an organized offense and defense. None of this Musselhead open offense and tom sterner defense.

That's a given. If your favorite team had Cohen as owner, you'd hate him to death too. The guy is incompetent.
I've got to believe that Mully chose Montgomery. I believe that Mully wanted to put his stamp on the club immediately and thinking out of the box is what is necessary for team that has the longest playoff drought in the NBA. Think of the publicity this has generated, Elie? Higgins? Ho hum. Monty? Damn what are they doing? Will it work? What does it mean?

Warriors Fans deserve better than Cohan!
I gotta go with Philsmith. At least this coach selection is good shock and not bad shock. Bad shock would have been the warriors have hiring P.J. Carlisimo again. Why? So Jrich can take a turn choking him?
