Just reported on ESPN, Malone was fined 75,000 for his flagrant foul on Derrick Martin in yesterday's game, I cant find the article, but when I do...I will post it
Too bad it wasn't a suspension. Malone is such a dirty player, he's giving me more reason to cheer for the Twolves.
This is interesting. 75,000 is the most I've ever seen a player get fined for a flagrant foul. Seriously, Karl Malone needs to cut it out. He's the real veteran in NBA and he's acting like this? I would expect this from a player like Mark Madsen that’s usually aggressive and would commit an unprofessional move like that since; he’s still a little young and has to learn to keep his composure. But Karl Malone is too old and smart for that and shouldn’t be doing such acts. He's starting to portray himself as a "dirty" player now a day.
This is nothing new for Malone or the NBA. Malone has always been regarded as a dirty player and is known for his extra physical play. When he's not driving down the lane aiming his foot into your chest or midsection (ala Fred Hoiberg), he's throwing elbows with vicious intent. Anyone remember when he split Isiah Thomas's forehead open because he got tired of Thomas driving into the lane? Or when he laid out David Robinson with an elbow to the head? Malone is just a brute player and strongly believes in only the strong survive. If he can't beat you with athleticism or talent, he's going to just start knocking you around and send a statement to the rest of your team. I've never agreed with his mentality, but it seems to be effective. Tony Parker wasn't the same player after he tasted the hardwood floor and got pushed around, let's see how Martin responds.
$7,500 fine and no suspension? What a Travishamockery!!! Karl Malone even admitted that it was purposeful. He did it to retalliate (incorrectly, not to mention) on a screen set by Spreewell on Fisher at mid court, earlier in the game. So, Malone clearly, by both action and spoken admission, meant to injure, yet the league let's him off with a slap on the wrist fine and no suspension? <font color="DarkRed"><font size="5">It's just WRONG, COMPLETELY WRONG.</font></font> Once again, The league office sport thier Purple and Gold blinders.

They can't suspend him. The series wouldn't be as exciting, and if it's not as exciting, it's not as profitable.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Just-Magic:</div><div class="quote_post">I agree with Hagrid. I thought Malone would get suspended for his actions.</div> so should KG have been suspended for retaliating against peeler?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting notMuchgame:</div><div class="quote_post">so should KG have been suspended for retaliating against peeler?</div> This is a different situation. Malone hit Darrick on purpose to injure him. KG retaliate with a push or something( I don't remember) with his elbow but it wasn't meant to hurt Peeler or anything. Some people think he should have been suspended and the only reason he didn't was because he is the MVP and the league knew it would affect the outcome of game 7 and if Peeler was the MVP, he wouldn't have been suspended. That might have affected the decision a little bit but the main reason was he hit him to hurt him in any way but Peeler did. Some people are saying this is a business and not profitable if Malone was suspended but the league can't let him just go with a fine when he hit somebody and could have possibly injure the person without suspending him. You have to protect the players from this kind of violence.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting notMuchgame:</div><div class="quote_post">so should KG have been suspended for retaliating against peeler?</div>How is that the same?
Why is it Malone gets away with suspension whereas Peeler did very much the same thing and was suspended 2 games. I KNOW WHY. Because the league has there favourites and malone is one of them. PFFFT is all i have to say.. however im glad he wasn't suspended because it will make this series even more interesting. What kills me is how arrogant he was in the post game interview "im not worried about a thing".. he even admitted to going head hunting! i hope he NEVER gets his championship ring.. that way he took a huge pay cut to play with the lake show n gets nowhere! GO TWOLVES!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Spree:</div><div class="quote_post">Why is it Malone gets away with suspension whereas Peeler did very much the same thing and was suspended 2 games.</div>The difference is Peeler gave Garnett a blow to the head where as Malone did not. I still think he deserved a suspension.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">The difference is Peeler gave Garnett a blow to the head where as Malone did not. It's partially because it was a cheap shot and not a straight-up attack that allows Malone to get away with it.
ESPN's David Aldridge sure doesn't like it: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2004...avid&id=1808516
