Article from INDYstar: The idea hadn't really crossed Reggie Miller's mind. The Olympics? Again? The Indiana Pacers' 38-year-old guard assumed he was finished with international competition, having played on the 1996 U.S. Olympic team and on the 1994 and 2000 World Championship teams. But the question came up again Sunday, after Detroit coach Larry Brown, who will coach the U.S. team in Athens, recommended Miller for a spot Saturday. "I keep begging for him to be on the team," Brown said. "With the guys leaving, his leadership and the fact he'll make big shots, I think he'd be great." Miller's reaction? "I'm a little too old for that," he said, smiling. Miller didn't completely rule out the idea, however. Several players offered spots on the Olympic team have backed out or threatened to do so, citing fatigue, injuries or personal conflicts. Miller considers that "unfortunate." "I'm not saying no," he said. "Right now I'm just being in the moment of the Eastern Conference finals. I'll evaluate everything after this." Miller severely sprained an ankle during an exhibition game before the World Championships in 2002. That injury changed the complexion of the Pacers' season, and required postseason surgery. Pacers coach Rick Carlisle endorsed Miller for the team, and wondered about two other players, too. "My question is, why isn't Ben Wallace or Ron Artest on that team?" Carlisle said, referring to Detroit's center and the Pacers' forward. I would love to see him in Athens again, what are your opinions?

I would've wanted him to. Firstly he's a nice guy and a class act, that's always virtually the biggest plus. Secondly he'd bring some true clutchness and some veterancy to the team. I think he's making the right decision though, someone as good as he is, is somewhat old, therefore he needs his rest, so he can remain a threat for next time. Particularly the Summer League I guess.
I have always hated Reggie Miller, just a Personal thing. I have hated how clutch he was, I basically hated him for his game. He would be good in Athens, there are a bunch of young cats going over there and dont necessarily have the on court veteranship and leadership of a veteran. He has been to 3 other Olympic games, so he knows what it is like. I think he could do a lot of good, and whatever decision he makes I will respect.
Reggie would be good as long as he doesnt really play, and if he does play he doesnt need to be taking 20 shots. He could give the young guys good advice and in that aspect he would be good.
Reggie can still shoot and he can still play,I think he would be good in Athens because hes been there before and a lot of the people that are going to Athens this year have never been there before,Reggie would be a good leader and he would bring leadership and responsibility to the team.

If reggie is playing, he is certainly taking some shots ( not 20 ) and dishin some to. It would be good for him, to go to athens one more time and play, before he retires.
