The Lakers "War Room" - Poster Mock All Lakers Fans: Justbball.com will be putting together 2 mocks drafts as part of an ON-SITE contest, shortly after the NBA lottery Draft on May 26th. One mock will be done by the moderators/admins and the other will be by the posters of JBB. It's going to be a little contest to see who can get a more accurate mock for draft day. Please remember, It's all for fun. As you can see, a few posters have been asked to help with pulling together the posters mock draft. We need your help and input to do this, so now we're coming to you! Here's what we need (i.e.- the RULES): 1. Posters interested in having thier draft thoughts considered should submit, up to 5 names of players that you think your team will want to draft on draft day. Remember that these need to be realistic, not pipe dreams. Up to 5 players that you believe your team is scouting and may take in the drafts first round. 2. For those who are really into mocks, you may submit to us via PM (please) your entire first round mock. It must be complete however. We realize that this is going to be more difficult, given that the lottery places are yet to be filled. However, we'll accept submissions up to midnight, May 28th EST. (After that, anything recieved will have to wait to be included in any updates we make after releasing the mock) 3. If you are going to propose a trade with any of your draft picks (Maximum limit = 1 draft related trade proposal), JUSTIFICATION must be provided. It must be reasonable and work under the CBA. Any trades proposed without this information WILL BE DISCARDED without further thought. This announcement will be posted and stickied in all team forums as well, so please try to participate if you have ideas. We want the posters mock to be a quality one that can stand side by side with the mods mock. Thanks and we look forward to your comments. Those with full mocks, can submit them up to May 27th VIA PM, to og15, wtwalker77 or hagrid.
I would love to see them get Darius Rice...I know he didn't live up to expectations in college but I think he'd fit right into the Laker system (assuming it's the same system next year). He doesn't put the ball on the floor often (which is a good thing), yet he shoots lights out...even better, he's a 6'10'' SF so he could potientially cause havoc on the defensive end. I just love his shot, and the man showed his clutch ability when he buried UCONN a couple of seasons ago...I've seen mocks where he would go in the second round, but I do not think it is a reach to draft him with the 1st round pick...
I'd rather have Romain Sato, he can also shoot the lights out, but he is a lot more athletic than Rice and he plays defense. Sato is also a coachable player and a good rebounder for his size. The Lakers need more athletes on the team, and Sato has serious leaping ability. The other player I wouldn't mind seeing in the Purple & Gold is Chris Duhon. He's a natural born leader and always finds ways to win a game. He'd be a nice addition to the Laker's lineup, eventually replacing Derek Fisher.

I'd go for best available. The Lakers roster next season is still up in the air. Kobe? Malone? Payton? Fisher? All of these guys could potentially be on other teams, in jail, or retired next season. Leaving us with just Shaq and Devean to build around.

Quoting notMuchgame:

I'm actually kinda hoping the Clipps get Duhon
Don't the Clippers have enough Blue Devils on their roster? Duhon would be a nice pick up for any team, especially the Clippers, but I'd rather see his talent being displayed as a Laker.
A lot of what happens depends on the coaching situation IMO...if the lakers drop the triangle next year, then I would want them to get a point guard (Fish just isn't a pure PG anymore)... however, if remain under Phil (or Clemons) I would like to see them focus on the wing positions. With the triangle still in place, I would like to see Rush move into the starting backcourt next year (with Kobe). It'd be nice to solidify the bench with the draft pick (and perhaps find someone to provide consistency at SF)
