"You know, John [Weisbrod] has that laser-like focus and we were going everywhere, to a every gym. And John would say, 'We're looking for the big Russian! Where is he? We know he's here somewhere!' " laughed Gabriel, now a Magic scout and consultant.

Finally, Weisbrod and Gabriel, who were in Chicago for a pre-draft camp, found Podkolzine, a k a "The Russian Bear."</div>

Pavel is way too raw to even be considered for the Magic. We need results now, or else we have the risk of losing Tracy McGrady.

If we were to fall as far as the fifth pick, would Pavel still be a consideration? He'd probably remain on the board - while Dwight, Oakfor, Livingston, and Deng would have found their NBA teams.

What's it mean when someone is too raw? I think he might be a good choice in some ways, mostly because of his girth and weight. If worked on properly he could turn out to become really strong and balanced. But like you said, there's no time for that, especially since not only is TMac leaving, but with him gone, the team would be in an even lower status and need some immediate huge impacts that only the likes of Howard and Okafor could probably offer right now.

I do like the sound of Livingston, big PG, but not all that conditioned and strong, that's the basic necessity lacking in the Magic right now. You mentioned Deng, he seems to have that, but Okafor seems to be the best candidate for that, especially with him having the most experience out of them all, he'd probably be the most NBA ready.

Don't forget that we are the Magic. In the last 3 or 4 years, how many of our rookies got worked on properly?(other than Mike Miller). If we get the 3rd or 5th pick, I expect for us to take Livingston. He is a big pg, coming out of HS. He could develop into an elite PG.
