DAMN!! we got so close at the end.. now we are against the ropes and game 4 is a must win! WHY didn't the refs call us on hack a shaq?? madsen was so obviously fouling shaq and they weren't calling a thing?? im not saying we were cheated, however we got within 6 with a very significant ammount of time left and the refs let it all slide? This decision did definately affect the outcome of the game.. not saying we would have won but our chances were definately slimmed thanks to the refs. Did anybody else see this.. AAAH that was one frustrating game to watch!.. P.S Malone is soo unbelievably annoying.. when he did those stupid hand actions after Kandi was called for an offensive foul (for crap all) i was ready to jump into the TV and brawl! (haha i probably would have got bashed, but still!)
The thing with that hack at the end was, we missed the shot, and you guys took it in to score. It actually worked out BETTER for you guys than it did for us. And that was a bad call that hurt both teams. Did you see how pissed off Shaq was? I wanted the hack called too.
Have you noticed that after each playoff game in each series there are one or two "controversial" calls...where we are like "what was the ref thinking?" but we can never find out cuz no one can ask the refs....personally i think the refs or at least the lead official should have a press conference after the game to clear up any confusion...it just would make things a whole lot clearer...maybe not so much in the regular season but during the post season where a "bad" call means a hell of a lot more...why not? as for the Twolves...they did come close...and i thought towards the end of the third that they definetly have a chance...thanks to Wally basically scoring every point in that quarter to get them to within two points...but two things happened... #1 when you making a run on a team the way the wolves were you need to come back and play some solid defense....none of the centers had any kind of answer for Shaq....they were definetly out rebounded by the Lakers...had too many turnovers...and not enough trips to the line....#2 unfortunetly for the wolves Mr. Bryant was scoreless in the 1st half and they still were down by nine going into the half....and ya know you aren't gonna just hold Kobe scoreless in a game...not gonna happen....so if i were the wolves i would have been scared...cuz he was gonna end up putting points on the board and QUICK FAST AND IN A HURRY...and at a time when his team needed him to Now i think the wolves going into game 4 are in the same position they faced going into game 3...they have to steal one...if they let the Lake show win again on Thursday...the series is as good as over...cuz though the wolves may win another game...there is no way they are gonna win 3 in a row....it certainly isn't IMPOSSIBLE but it sure would be difficult not to mention a total upset....but GO WOLVES!! PS- EVERYONE knows Karl Malone is unbelievably annoying...and yes those "we're going the other way" signals make you want to go through the tv...but if you do it when he commits an offensive foul or the Lakers turn the ball over in a similar situation...cuz that does happen....it makes you feel at least a little bit better
oh yeah and im sorry but the crowd chanting "MVP" when Kobe was at the line to me was so incredibly disrespectful to KG...who WE ALL KNOW deserved that MVP award this season...it was sucha slap in the face to him...im sure KG would say he didn't think anything of it...but i highly doubt that...it was rude....i wouldn't mind it if say they chanted it when they weren't playin the team the housed the MVP...but doing it in front of him...is just so disrespectful....i mean i hate i mean HATE Karl Malone but he was the league MVP and he was playin agame against a guy that i thought should of been the MVP...i would never go along with chanting that...thats just so disrespectful...i can't get over that...i mean KG DESERVED that effin award...ahhhh that really make me mad that was my rant for game 3
I dont understand what all the hubub was about..... The wolves had the lead in what......20 seconds of the entire game? Hack a Shaq is just like admitting to your players that you cant beat the lakers straight up....and the players know it...... Lakers in 6
^i agree...i hate the "HACK-A-SHAQ" technique...but some teams have had work to their advantage...but i really don't think you should use it when the Lakers are at home...it works the best when the lakers on the road in an arena with a very hostile crowd....but i still hate to see teams use it...its a bit of a cop out
The thing is, the Hack-a-Shaq has never really worked. Teams only use it when they are down at the end of the game, and by that point it's already too late. I agree with John, Hack-a-Shaq just means you know you can't beat the Lakers head on. As far as the crowd and Karl, they are accomplishing exactly what they want. Getting into the opposition's head. Getting under their skin. Both tactics (as well as both sets of fans chanting 'AirBall!') work the other players up so much that they commit stupid fouls and turn overs. Malone may be older and a bit slower than KG, but he's got 18 years of experience, he has been getting into KGs head, and doing a damn good job of taking him out of the game. What was it? 3 points in the last 30 minutes?
I agree that the Hacking game was done too early. Anyway, you have to admit that it better to hack him before he gets the shot up instead of having an "And 1" scenario. I couldn't believe the amount of touch fouls that were being given to "The Daddy". Oh well, the Wolves showed heart in cutting the lead down, but just couldn't finish the deal. To me, it seemed like the Lakers took the game, instead of having the Wolves give it to them. Good game by the Lakers.

Karl Malone is a certified stereotypicle "JOCK". No respect for anyone, but himself. I am a big KG hater but, all of that to the side, he didnt deserve that.

That was very classy of you to say.
Hack-Shaq doesnt work for a team like the wolves because they dont get to the free throw line enuff to off set the Lakers free throw attempts. So they end up losing the basketball game at the line anyway. once the Wolves got into the penalty in the 2nd half from countinuosly fouling Shaq, Kobe went to the free throw line 11 times in the 2nd half compared to the wolves who went to the line 14 times for the entire game. The Lakers went to the free throw line 43 times for the entire game. They didnt shoot a great %, but they still made 25 free throws. And thru lack of attempts the wolves only made 12 free throws for the entire game, which means that the Lakers were plus 13 at the line. You cant win a game most nights losing the battle at the line in that type of way. Inorder for Hack a Shaq to work, you have to be a team that can be able to use it but still be able to win the battle vs the Lakers in made free throws or at least come close. The Wolves arent that type of team because they never get to the line.

It's always nice to have women contributing on sports sites. It reminds the closed-minded that anyone can be a great sports fan, regardless of age, sex, race, etc. One of my favorite mods at the site I used to run was a mod known as Bobcat.
