Still, the only way the Nets trade Martin is if talks take an unforeseen turn for the worse. Stromile Swift Like Martin, this 6-9 power dunker is a restricted free agent. Thorn might try to pry him away from good friend Jerry West. He dunked all over the Nets during the Memphis debacle this season that led to Jason Kidd's locker-room tirade. Jamal Mashburn Yes, he has a bad right knee that kept him out of the playoffs and 63 regular-season games and could force him to retire. But if Jason Kidd's former Mavs teammate heals this summer, he is a proven scorer who likely has worn out his welcome in New Orleans. Mashburn makes $9.3 million next season, which is close to Kittles' contract. Damon Jones He started his career with the Nets in 1998 and always has wanted to return. The free agent averaged 7.0 points for the Bucks this season and can play both point guard and shooting guards. Anthony Peeler A free agent who shot 48% from behind the arc this season for the Kings but didn't help Sacramento when he was suspended for Game 7 for elbowing Kevin Garnett. Gordan Giricek Another three-point shooter on the market who averaged 11.3 points for Utah and Orlando. Travis Best Free agent who could spell Kidd if Zoran Planinic doesn't pan out. Clifford Robinson Jason Kidd's old Suns teammate averaged 11.8 points at 37 and can still shoot from the outside. He has one year left on his Warriors contract for $5.2 million. </div> Source
I've been saying for 3 years now that the Nets DESPERATELY need some outside shooting...I believe Wesley Person is a free agent, and I believe Voshon Lenard is in an option year...they have been pathetic at outside shooting for years...they've got arguably the best PG in the game and some inside scoring with RJ and K-Mart...adding a lethal 3-point bomber only makes sense to spread tha defense...
