<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The list of free-agent big men, including restricted players, that the Mavs are mulling over is extensive. Some names to chew on: Erick Dampier, Zeljko Rebraca, Chris Mihm, Chris Andersen, Mark Blount, Marcus Camby, Adonal Foyle, Greg Ostertag, Michael Doleac and Wallace. "Internally, we've started targeting free agents," Mavs president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said. "Now, it's time to roll up our sleeves and see what's out there and what we can do." The Mavs can protect up to eight players for the June 22 expansion draft. The Charlotte Bobcats can choose no more than one player from each team and must draft at least 14 players. The Mavs can only protect players under contract and restricted free agents. Dirk Nowitzki, Michael Finley, Josh Howard and Marquis Daniels are locks on the protected list, according to Nelson. Jamison, Eduardo Najera and Shawn Bradley are also probable. Walker and Jon Stefansson are on the fence. The Mavs will leave Tariq Abdul-Wahad, Danny Fortson and Tony Delk unprotected. The Mavs can't protect unrestricted free agents Steve Nash, Scott Williams and Travis Best. Re-signing Nash is the Mavs' No. 1 priority. If the Bobcats do choose a player off the Mavs' unprotected list, the Mavs receive an assignment exception equivalent to that player's salary. The Mavs could then trade for a player to fit that salary slot. If Walker is chosen, that slot would be $14.6 million.</div> Source
i think the mavs could win a good big man signing a free agent and get a young big man in the draft for train. good unrestricted free agent for sign are Keon Clark, Adonal Foyle, Brian Skinner,Joel Przybilla, Jake Tsakalidis, etc.. and combinate him with good young centers in the draft P.j. ramos , Damir Omerhodzic ,Jaber Rouzbahani,Ha Seung-Jin, Mo Ke alll this players good 7 footers and more centers whit a lot of future.
I wouldnt mind taking a look at chris anderson, he was among the best in blocks per 48 minutes and played pretty good D on KG during their series. Dampier would be the best fit for the Mavericks though, but i highly doubt that will happen.
I say try to get Camby, It wont happen but its a good thought. We do have a chance at going for Dampier, it will be good seing Jamison and Dampier playing togehter once again
There are a lot of rumours that a Greg Ostertag for Shawn Bradley trade is coming. Ostertag grew up in a suburb of Dallas, and has already said he'd love to play there. He is likely to be leaving Utah, and they want to get something out of him.
I have a feeling one of the "big 3" will be traded this season to try to bring in a big man for the Mavs. I still don't believe they would trade Dirk, but I could see a trade involving Finley. They also have a couple other throw-ins they could offer in Antoine Walker, eventhough I doubt most teams would want that throw-in. I think we'll see a huge blockbuster trade in Dallas, moving a few guys from their core to bring in Dampier.
I do to, but then again, I dont. I dont see Cuban trading any of the big 3, I just dont see Dallas being Dallas with out them. You see what happend this year without Van Exel

Maybe Walker and Nash (resigned) to Lakers for Shaq? With Shaq, you get instant interior d and offense in the paint. I think the Lakers would be foolish to do so but who knows what could happen if Kobe leaves...
^ I don't think anyone will be willing to take on Walker's contract unless it's for a lesser player than him. In a blockbuster trade of all-stars I don't see Walker's name coming up.

He definitely wants the ball too. That's why he didn't like Jamison or Gilbert Arenas because all the bangin in the low post didn't get him squat on a posession because Gil and twan would just shoot it constantly. I think Dallas needs somebody who isn't going to be a low post scorer unless you're going to give him touches and take away touches from the big 3, Jamison, and Walker. I think the one thing that Don Nelson doesn't understand is that the team needs to have chemistry. I mean on offense only one guy shoots the ball, but on defense everyone has to work as a team. I think the big 3 is the best group of guys on the floor at a single time. Now if Dallas can get some solid role players that will do the things that Nash, Finley, and Dirk can't do well. Then you got a good balanced team. I just think this wastefulness on offense was what really killed the Mavs chemistry this year.
