Should the Grizzlies trade up in the draft, and is so - how far up?

I saw this in the Chicago Tribune and was intruiged -

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Bulls need somebody ready to contribute minutes and quality, like Wally Szczerbiak, Antawn Jamison, <font size="3">Shane Battier</font>, Al Harrington or Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

Smith also discusses the possibility of trading No. 3 for a player and a lower pick, and sizes up some sleepers in the Draft. </div>

    How does this deal sound?

    Chicago Sends:
    Eddie Robinson OR Jerome Williams
    #3 pick

    Memphis Sends:
    Shane Battier
    Mike Miller
    #50 or future 2nd rounder

    Boo.

Though I despise Miller, the number 3 is no good for us.
We don't need any more guards, and we don't need any more forwards.

    We need a fucking centre.

The only centres in draft are going in the mid to late first, so if we can maybe keep Battier, and get a lower pick, I'd be all for it.

The way I see it, the number three is useless.

Well, if we trade Miller and Battier, then we'll need a small forward.

It's a question of which SF combination is better: Battier/Miller or D.Jones/Deng?

Either way, swingmen are a dime a dozen.
    Get a big.
(And all things being equal, I like Shane. Keep him, I say.)

Well, Deng is actually a tweener between PF and SF.

Do you think they should trade up to get a guy like Marty Andri or Pavel Podkolzine?

No, Deng is a SF in the league.

Either way; that's not the point. If we trade Miller and Battier, then we'll need a small forward. Deng could be the next big thing. Would you rather have him or Battier/Miller?

    Podkolzine could be a possibilty.

Could we see something with Golden State?

    Memphis Trades: Bo Outlaw
Future first rounder and 50th pick

    Golden State Trades: #11 pick
    Adonal Foyle

Why in the world would Golden State do that? The cap room isn't enough for them to do it either, imo.

    How about -

    Philadelphia Sends:
    Todd MacCulloch
    #11 pick

    Memphis Sends:
    Stromile Swift
    Dahntay Jones
    #50 pick
    Future 2nd

Philadelphia does this because they lose MacCulloch's God awful contract and get a legit starting center by Eastern standards as well as some youth with potential in Dahntay Jones (and the picks). Memphis does this because nothing they send out really means anything to them; they can afford to bear the weight of Todd's contract; and they could always use a big man with the #11 pick.

That trade, I'd be all for that.

They could get something good at eleven, and Stro has shown he's not going to 'do it' as a Grizzly.
