If Webb is traded, I'm going with him. I'm getting sick of the "next year" solution, the fans that boo their best player and throw glowsticks at classy players. (Ask yourself who you were defending, A 10 year Sac vet with ties to the community, noooo...) I have to defend Webber because he is taking so much crap from his own fans. He has never been MJ or Kobe in the clutch (or even Derek Fisher now), but his comments were not about making the last shot, but taking it. The comments were not about production, they were about EFFORT. In reality, he was defending himself for taking that 3, as glowstick chucking sactown fans were screaming "Webber for 3! NOOO!!". These are the same guys who ask where Peja is for this. I ask the same question. WHERE IS PEJA. Give Webb some credit for taking the flack for his lack of production in the clutch and still having the guts to take that shot. Nobody on this team is making that shot and sending them further. And only a few guys even have the guts to stand in a take it, get blamed for loss, be there wheter you win or lose. This is what his comments are about. I think they are about Peja, who can't be found to to shoot his 4th quater airballs and Miller, who is a good shooter but always passed right back to Bibby with the game on the line. Webber's comments are not about talent and execution but effort and grit to step in and take the shot, win or lose.
Webber likes to talk...It's pretty much how he's been throughout his career Comments like he made don't faze me at all
I also have to add that Kobe airballed more a ton against the Jazz in the playoffs. The Lakers needed a guy to take those shots. He missed them, they lost. He took them though...
I can understand your comments. You are more of a Webber fan than a Kings fan (and no, there is nothing wrong with it, just saying what is) I dont fault Webber for taking that shot. he was the only one on the floor that was open for it and he should have taken it. I dont question his heart, I question his knees.

Also Kobe outgrew it. He's clutch now. C Webb has been choking at clutch time since the fab 5 days and is still coming up short.

I think they should show some more respect for C-Webb. He's a heck of a player when he's playing at 100% (IMO top 10-15 player in the league) and Sacramento was nowhere on the map in terms of success or notoriety before he came there. He was nowhere near full health during the playoffs but played anyways because without him and Jackson their chances would be slim to none in terms of the championship. He deserves some slack. It's funny how a couple of years ago people fought so hard to campaign for his return to Sacramento and now they treat him like crap.
Chris Webber deserves respect,he has choked in the past but I dont think he choked when he missed the three he took in Game 7 of the Kings Wolves series. He didnt choke, choking is airballing the game tying three,C-Webbs did a nice pump fake to get KG in the air,and he got a good look at the three, the three was in and out I dont think he choked I think it was a matter of luck that the shot didnt fall. I also respect him even more for playing hard despite his knees not being near 100% percent, playing with hurt knees is one of the hardest injuries to play with,it slows you down, and kills your explosiveness, and for players like Webber who rely on explosiveness it takes out a whole dimmension of their game.
Webber unclutch? that's crap, Webber made the kings and i remember his three pointer against the lakers two years ago, that is confidence. I agree with some of you guys who are saying Webber shouldn't be mistreated by the fans. What the hell are the fans problems? they are not the ones on the court with knee problems giving 100% effort to try to win games, Sac fans are with Webber when he's playing well, but seem to desert him when he's having a tough night..some loyalty.. Chris Webber come to Chicago and be treated right

Keep in mind also, he is not an outside shooter. He can hit the occasional three, and i have seen him hit that to win games before...but its by no means his strong point.

If you listen to the local radio (which i do) the fans that are making the most noise out of making some of these trades or firing Adelman have NO CLUE about the ins and outs of basketball and they just want to see a championship in Sac. This is not to say that they are not real fans, they just understand basketball on the same level that I understand brain surgury...I know you have to get into someones head, but man.... God help the person that I have to operate on!!!
I Guess the thing with Webber is like this: Damned if he does well,Damned if he doesn't do well Certainly Webber isn't the same player he was a few years back, but Webber can still make a contribution to the Kings, and he should at least be given another year before all of us say he's toast
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont fault Webber for taking that shot. he was the only one on the floor that was open for it and he should have taken it. </div> I totally agree. Chris Webber had no choice but to take that shot in game 7. He was forced to take the shot for 2 reasons. 1) He was the only person on the floor who was open (after pump faking KG to get a clean look) and 2) Sacramento had no timeouts to set up a play off of the inbound. The play that went to Webber was after the ball was tipped out the previous attempt to get the ball to Peja. The real blame of the loss falls on the Kings inablilty to hit from the charity strike (shooting 40% from the line in an elimination game for the second time in three years is unacceptable). As for the fans at Arco booing Webber during his return, they must remember that they would still be in the basement if it were not for him. Do you think that Bibby would have still re-upped after '02 if C-Webb decided to skip town after '01? In miy mind, Sacramento should not even think of trading Webber considering how he played in the playoffs virtually on one leg. If he can get a full summer of working out and getting strength back in his knee, the rest of the league better look out in '04.
My point about Kobe was not about winning the game but having the guts to take the shot no matter what the outcome may be. Kobe being 18 at the time has nothing to do with it. I'm saying that CWebb takes the shot knowing that heat will come down if he misses and that the Lakers even say they needed that kind of decision making in crunch time.
