Read my answer to Kobe 8 Balls question right above yours. If he is still around in the 11th spot I think there is a good possibility.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">I just played basketball against Childress at West Valley College, he is the real deal. I knew he was a good basketball player but you have no idea until you see him in person. It was an open gym but we played a mini tournament. We played his team first, which Chris Hernandez was also on. They killed us and Childress was plain unstopable. I blew right by me off the dribble and dunked right over my friend. We did manage 2 points in a 15-2 loss.</div> I don't know about your skills, playing against Childress ? But playing against you in a pick-up game and playing against Kobe/Rip/R-Allen is different. I'm sure Childress will be a very good NBA player, but the W's don't need another wing player. I think they need some size ! GO WARRIORS !

I see Childress as the guy you'd want to have on your team because he understands the game. He'd be like Dunleavy's smarts, with George Gervin's athleticism and shooting touch. His ballhandling is excellent and although he doesn't have the court sense of Dunleavy, he passes well, takes care of the ball and finds open people. I would trade Dunleavy for the rights to him. And plus the fro would make him an icon of the warriors. This guy seems like a sure thing. Instead of wasting a 11 pick on a 7'5 guy like Slavko Vranes let's go for the players we know are going to be decent at both ends of the floor, smart, and effective within the team game. And then we can sign always veteran big man like Slavko Vranes or a center who wants to start or get Murphy to play center. Let's hope we can keep Dampier.
I honestly have never been high on Childress. He does everything pretty well, but nothing great IMO, and that's going to hurt him at the pro level (he will be lacking a nitche). I really hope he does well in the league but my personal feeling is that he (along with fellow Pac-10er Luke Jackson) are going to be busts.
josh childress is amazingly atheletic and quick i've watched him countless times in person at stanford he's awesome...but his shot really is sort of a problem anyways, do you guys remember chris weems from stanford? he was an amazing 3 point shooter...maybe 3 or 4 years back, i remember idolizing him...well check this, he's my high school coach! i just had my first practice for JV summer league!
The thing I like about Childress is his sneakiness on defense. I've seen him come out of nowhere to block opposing players' three point attempts quite a few times. He's just a heady player who makes the right plays at the right times. If Tayshaun Prince can be successful in the league I don't see why Childress wouldn't have the same fortune.
i love the kid but he reminds me of chris jefferies not jared. i've been unimpressed by his play, i don't think he has the quicks to guard nba wing players. and no offense but wouldn't a potential nba player be able to shut u guys out?
Having seen a bunch of Childress' games in the Cardinal season, then watching the pacers during the NBA playoffs, I'm of the mind that Childress has the tools to be the second coming of Reggie Miller. They have very similar body types and abilities, both as shooters off screens, driving to the basket with finesse, sneaky defense, and passing ability, Miller being a historically underrated passer.
Interesting comparison Casske and I see where you are coming from. Both players are very active and use a lot of screens to free themselves. I think Rip Hamilton is the closest thing to Reggie Miller in the NBA.
Really? Why do you say that? Everytime I think Reggie Miller I think of "Miller time" where he busts out a 3 pointer to win or tie the game. I remember back in his prime he used to be the biggest trash talker, it was funny.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Really? Why do you say that? </div>They are both lengthy skinny guys and they both make a living on running all over the court and wearing down their defender. Hamilton moves just like him but does not have the great 3 point shooting touch that Miller had/has.
Childress is a really underrated player, he should be able to have a really good career in the NBA, he has a really nice shot
Ah, Josh Childress. My favorite player in the draft. I would be terribly heart broken if the Cavaliers past him up so you guys can swipe him at 11. I feel a Childress/Bron combo can be great.
