Allen Iverson is performing with Snoop Dog at The Radisson in downtown Miami tonight after hanging out by the pool with former Hurricanes Brian Blades and Perry Clark, the Heat's Rafer Alston, the Dolphins' Chris Chambers and others, who will be signing autographs to benefit The Blades Foundation. Iverson was a no-show at his own Miami news conference Thursday to announce the release of his first rap CD. The Iverson/Snoop concert starts at 9 tonight with $40 general admission.

If he were to say anything hard which is very likely it would not ruin him, it would simply boost up our views on him. He's a man of effort, a man who doesn't take crap from anybody, it'd simply show how hardcore and badass he is.

Well that's Allen Iverson for ya. :P I'm surprised this is first rap CD. I though he already came out with one a while back. Nonetheless, it's not going to sell. I don't know what these basketball players are thinking. Just because they're famous and well known doesn’t give them a reason to get into the music business. The only reason why Shaq album surprisingly went platinum was because it was funny. In one of his bars, he actually said a rhyme that was dissing himself. He said something about Kareem stepping on him. [IMG]

Yeah he was going to come out with an album the summer the Sixers lost in the finals(I think) but he said the lyrics were too extreme and he was dissing refs so he just decided not to sell it.

I like AI's lyrics but I just wouldnt want people like allboutdapacers to have another thing to dawg AI for.But if he does release his album I will probally buy it.
BTW if you have never heard AI rap look for the song 40 Bars its tight.

well i know some of his raps and i think: its not bad but he should be lucky, that he is a talented baller.
obviously its better than shaq's or c-webbs raps but without his fame he would't sell a record...
at least what i heard from last album(dont know the new stuff, yet)

btw: looks like allboutdapacers is becoming popular in our sixers forums here;)

I don't think a.i.'s 'hard' lyrics will hurt his reputation as a person nearly as much as his pathetic lyrics will hurt his reputation as a rapper.

I think this is the first time I've posted in the Philly forum but AI is actually gonna go through with coming out with a CD. I think he should've never 2nd guest releasing his first CD earlier. He let the Man win. j/k but first time I seen that commercial with him and JadaKiss. I thought to myself, if I heard him on the radio, I would've have thought he was an upcoming rap star that had promise. No doubt he's better then Shaq, and probaly would by his CD myself.

Jewels (his stage name) was going to release his first album (Misunderstood) a while back but the Sixers run to the playoffs diminished any plans for that, since then he hasn't had time or the desire to finish it up. On top of the playoff run, many media members encouraged him not to release it because of its derogatory lyrics towards women, and homosexuals.

He is signed by Universal Records and has his own group named Cru Thik. Plex, a member of CT is set to be the producer for the record.

Some songs by his that I have heard are; 40 Bars, Last Night, and Pay Per View

yeh i heard that 40 bars a little while ago when i was a ai freak. I always love that song. its sweet. I think this will just feel ai's urge to rap in front of a crowd. i dont hink it will hurt because Idont think it will be highly publicized. I wouldnt even know it happened if i didnt come on this site. I say do your thing Ai. be you boy. keep it Treel

    Fu-Schnickens BABY!

Ai's stage name is Jewels? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

His agent should have his a** handed to him for letting that come about. I'm sure that's just what AI's rap reputation wants to be confused with: Soft rock/Pop diva Jewel. [IMG] [IMG]

Anyways, I doubt his lyrics will be an issue. I think at this point, people expect a certain "street mentality" out of AI. Anything ignorant he says will be pretty much expected from him from more than a small part of society.
