<div class="quote_poster">Quoting spark22:</div><div class="quote_post"> And when anyone brings up the "push-off", I always agree with cubanballer if it was the other way around would of Russell been call with an offensive foul?</div> About the Jordan push-off: Thats where respect comes in play. Remember when Reggie pushed off Jordan? It wasn't called because they are not going to call a foul on Reggie in the last seconds of the game, he has the respect of the refs. They wouldn't call an offensive foul for those players, they just let them play and what happens, happens.
Man, I forgot about that 32 point quarter that David Thompson had to get his 73. The George Gervin gets 33 points in a quarter then wins the scoring title. Like David Thompson said, the ICEMAN could've at least gave him that one since George won 3 scoring titles after.
jazzz had a chance to win that game....there was 5 secs left on the clock and stocktons 3 hit the rim, then the backboard, then the rim again and fell out... jordans strip was clean and as for game 7, it woulda been at Chicago not Utah...
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">and as for game 7, it woulda been at Chicago not Utah...</div> Actaully since the Jazz had home court advantage, it would of been in Utah, since the Finals are in a 2-3-2. I relieaze that most of you didn't watch the game or didn't pay as much attention to the game as I did, so I'll try to let this die, as we all know it won't, this was the worse officiated game, it just happened to allow the "greatest" to win a championship on his way out, a story-book ending. Its just got to many elements to not be considered a conspiracy or "rigged".
During the last seconds of a game, the refs will let the players win or lose the game. They're not going to blow the whistle (as long as it's not too obvious and hard) and let that call win or lose the game. It's a known fact. There are countless instances of this. To cite a few. 1. MJ giving a slight nudge on Russell to drain the jumper. 2. Miller pushing off MJ to get free. 3. Kobe pushing off Bibby around the FT area to receive the ball.

And most of the instances you recounted (especially the shot clock "violations") could have gone either way. Calling it the worst officiated game is ludicrous at best and the ramblings of a fan in denial. The Jazz had every opprotunity to win that game but they didn't. The Jazz lost the game, the officials didn't lose it for them. PS Jordan stripped Malone cleanly, all ball son.
I'm not saying that the ball wasn't cleanly swiped, I'm just saying from what I recall from the game it looked as if he swiped down across his arm. And now everytime I see the replay of it (as in this Spike: Top 52...) it always shows the view from Malone's backside. It looks to me that the NBA is trying to cover something up, if not they would show the other angle, if nothing else, to show younger guys how to double team the post. When I call it the worst officiated game, can you tell me one more game with as many wrong or bad calls in it that had this much of an impact? I can't, remember this was Game 6 of the 1998 Finals. Earlier this season, the NBA suspended a ref for a bad call that caused one game, yet this instance could of possibably caused a championship, was anyone fined, suspended, fired? I know they are human, but sometimes they are too many piece not to connect them.
