Ex-Bulls guard recovering from motorcycle crash

Here's a little updated article on Jay Williams by ESPN:
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A year after a motorcycle crash left Jay Williams fearful he would never walk again, the former Chicago Bulls guard is holding out hope that he'll return to the NBA.

"I'm not running and dunking on people yet," Williams said by phone Tuesday from Durham, N.C., where he has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation since last summer. "I wish I could. But I'm definitely making huge steps compared to where I was last year."

The former No. 2 draft pick out of Duke said he started doing some shooting and light jogging about four months ago, and recently jumped off his injured left leg for the first time. His next goal is to work his way up to sprinting and cutting.</div>

I'm really happy to see Williams progress on his quest to come back to the NBA. I've been a supporter of him since his Duke days, and I would love to see him try a comeback, even if it means a 3rd string spot in any team.

I'm glad he's recovering, this was real tragic. He's a good guy, I had such high hopes for him. He has some real determination and passion on his side, I hope just for his sake even if he's never great again, that he can play ball again.

I'd expect him to be back sometime this season. There was an NHL player named Dany Heatley that had an even worse accident that shattered his jaw and quite a few important muscle tissue was torn and needed major surgery. He came back in 4 and a half months, didn't play as well as the previous season, but it shows that he wanted to play. I'm hoping for Williams to return, I think he's just making sure he will be 100% before making his way back.

Great that he is feeling good. He had a real bright nba future before the accedent he was able to make the all nba rookie second team. Register a 20 point game his first nba game. Hopefully he will come back and be a good if not all star caliber guard. Can you imagine in a couple of years if he comes back and does well his beyound the glory story.

He stank! Good riddance to him! I hope he never plays again! I'd rather have Shawn Kemp in his current condition on my team than Jay Williams!

You can not be serious. The guy showed real promise. Plus he is only 23 I believe while kemps is what like 36 or something and so over weight he looks like a smaller fat vs of shaq. Williams averaged 9.6 points for the bulls his rookie season earning all rookie second honors and a appearence at the rookie all star game and would be a huge boast for them if he was able to come back though he was waived from the team so they could sign other players. His contract was still honored by the team. Plus he said he would obviously have to go back to the bulls because they are the team that really helped him through this time. If crawford goes to new york getting jason back would help alot.

Dude, you deserve to be thrown off of a bridge for that statement. Comments like that are never, by any means, needed here. You have some mad problems. Personally, I really hope he comes back. I really liked him in Chicago and really thought he could be something great. Hopefully he's able to play at some point in this season or the next. G

Folks let's not bring shawn kemp into this discussion, he was a great player, but too many problems with drugs and overweight brought down his career. Jay Williams hopefully will be able to play basketball one day again or at least being able to walk and just enjoy life, so many people take are good health for granted.

I hope Jay Williams make's it back and he's successfull, he was great player as a rookie and I know when he makes it back he can be atleast half the player he was, the same kinda thing happened with Dermarr Johnson now he's back but his injury's werent as bad as Jays.

I would love to see my main man JWill back in chi-town. tripple double'em up at the U.C. But I don't think mad-pax would do it. most likly he will be a Bobcat start a new chapter for his life, he could be on a team that could showcase his pg. skills along with Okafor's downlow game, and we all know how well okafor can play off a pg. that can score off the dribble ie. Ben Gordon. although it would of been somthing if coach K would have taken the Laker job JWill would look good in La-La Land too.......... Outtttttttt
