^It's fine if he can do some things that Dunleavy can't, but for the most part the Warriors would be duplicating a player, meaning that only one of them could be on the court most of the time. The Warriors can get away with doing that once, as they did with Richardson and Pietrus, because Pietrus is able to play in a three man rotation with Richardson and Dunleavy. But if Childress was on the team as well, he would only be taking minutes away from Dunleavy, Richardson, or Pietrus. And he'd be asked to do, essentially the same things on offense that Dunleavy can do (point forward, ball movement, etc.) and the same things on defense that Pietrus would be asked to do. Meanwhile the Warriors would have a gaping hole at center if Damp and Foyle decide to leave. Basically, I don't see how the Warriors can't draft big this year. They know at least one of their centers is going to leave and they might lose both. So they need to draft big to protect themselves, even if Podkolzine and Biedrins are off the board.
Yeah I gotcha. I still think the best bet for a center is not the draft because they're all prospects that aren't ready to contribute right away due to the physical immaturity. So there will be a hole at center either way if Foyle or Damp leaves. I mean worst case scenario is we pickup an undrafted college center that is strong enough to put a body on someone or get someone from the CBA or other leagues. I mean look at the list of free agents that were going on when we needed a replacement backup center when Foyle and Eschmeyer were on IR. Why the #$@#$ did we pick up Cherokee Parks? Were his tatoos that cool or something? We could have gotten Ken Johnson, James Lang, Mengkte Bateer, Jelani McCoy. Those guys all would have been decent role playing centers that can play physical. And if he came down to the worst case scenario we could have gotten Nate Huffman. I just don't understand the idiot free agency signings that have us getting guys like Cherokee Parks, and John Crotty type players like Rusty Larue who you know are going to get killed by quicker competition. I guess I went off on a rant there I'm sure there's a valid reason why we couldn't get those other players and we had to settle for a certain player for one reason or another.
