LA fans really need to learn sportsmanship. Everytime they mentioned the Timberwolves, they booed. How lame is that? The Wolves, plagued by lousy scheduling, lost the series. Also, this was the first game, where the officials started calling some fouls. Anyways, just needed to vent, but them booing, was very lame....

Oh wow, I was just thinking about that. Never thought there would be a thread about it but yeah. It was jacked up on how they booed the TimberWolves. It's like they got them mixed up with Sacremento or something.

How is it bad to boo the opponent team? Almost every time the Lakers play an away game they are booed, and every game Kobe is booed like crazy also. So just because they boo a team doesn't mean bad sportsmanship IMO.

I wished the people at the game hadn't booed, but what can you do. The fans got all tweaked because of Foul Fest 2004, and then stayed that way all game.

As for the "The Wolves, plagued by lousy scheduling, lost the series" comment. Do you seriously believe that? The Wolves played hard and some injuries that 'may' have changed the outcome, but 'lousy scheduling'? They had to play a day after beating Sacramento, because they let Sac take them to game 7. That's not 'lousy scheduling', that's 'failure to close'. You do the TWolves a disservice by blaming their loss on 'lousy scheduling'.

Personally, I like it when fans get passionate. Even though it is an entirely low-class thing to do, I love listening to some of the more grizzled season ticket holders holler some of the most shocking obcenities ever uttered in public at opposing players. While booing isn't quite as much fun, it still comes from the same source and where would basketball be with out rabid and passionate fans?

Wow there's some news, laker fans as a whole are extremely arrogant, callous, and ignorant, that's just my experience with some of the less intelligent ones. However there are those that really are smart about there team. You just won't see them at the game. They are blue-collar folks, you see them at road games against the clippers. Sportsmanship is one thing, grace is another thing. Best example is being a kings fan, I go to a kings board, not on this site, and laker fans post over and over again, taunting, saying ridiculous things. Wolves fans??? we had one who was extremely respectful and passionate. Spurs fans, like two. That's it. Laker fans though seem to make it a point to rub it in your face how they have the best team in the world. Ok we get it, do you have anything else to say because it's getting old.

hey it is good for the home team, not so good for the opposing team. But one of a big key of playing basketball is to concentrate. The players shouldnt get distracted by the booings. I really do care, atleast they are "active" in the game. It is way better than you see someone fall a sleep in a game. It is not bad sportsmanship is becasue it is Las Angeles

Some people here seem rather surprised to see an arena booing the opposing team/players after a series. Do you have selective memories or is it just more Laker-hating manifesting?

Wolves lost. Right now i would just love to rip into the lakers and how much i hate there guts (well really just Malone, Payton, Kobe and there fans), but they are the winners and will go on yet again to another nba final, a place the wolves were unable to get to. Congrats to the lakers. Dont lose hope wolves fans.. theres always another day.

Why is it bad that the Lakers fans booed the Wolves? Isn't that what they are supposed to do? Be passionate about their team. I love going to games and booing the opponets, its a part of the game.

Wolves fans would likely have done the same to the Lakers.. There's really nothing wrong with it..

Tattoo wasnt for "street-cred". I promise you Kobe could care less if he had any street-cred or not. That Tattoo means something, I forgot what he said it meant, but it has to do with his wife and family.

and you think Kobe is the only athlete that has cheated on his wife? PLenty of Athletes have, it just isnt made public in a rape case like Kobe's has.

There is a reason why they give homecourt advantages to the better team. There is a reason why teams want homecourt advantage. There is a reason why it's hard to win on the road esp. in a playoff series. Yes, it's the fans. They're not called the team's "sixth man" for nothing.

Now, if the fans boo the home team. That's a different story.

I don't think it's fair to make this an issue of just how Laker fans act.

There are all kinds of fans around the league, who have taken up the low-class action of booing teams.

I suppose that there are societal situations, like players facing criminal charges etc. that could prompt boo's. I won't comment on those, as an examples would be what I consider appropriate to boo and in general, I think it goes from situation to situation as to whether it's appropriate.

However, I've never been an advocate of booing, particularly when you're booing your own team. I'd rather everyone just either leave or not say anything. They make just as strong a statement.

Booing is a form of expression and people are entitled to do so. If you want to see a great example of how to most appropriately get on the opposing team with some class, spend some time (or visit) listening to the Duke Blue Devils Cameron Crazies. Whitty and original reparte, that's done with some class.

I don't have a problem with booing the opposing teams, as long as thats all they do. Theres really no point to it, but if a person wants to do it - Go for it, they just tend to look stupid. I do however have a problem with the insulting chants (wife beater, rapist, etc) and censorious posters/signs. It's ok to express your dislike for the team through boos, but it's absolutely disrespectful to inslut the players via posters and chants.

I personally don't think that there is a problem with boooing the opposition, the disrespect is when they chant M.V.P. for Kobe. Kobe isn't even the M.V.P. of his team, much less the league. That was low-class to me. Makes me hope for a Piston (better chance than Pacer) [IMG]

Why would you watch a game to pay attention to the fans?
