    Kittles/Abdur-Rahim swap?

More news on the reported Portland/New Jersey talks. League sources are telling the New York Daily News the Blazers could ship Shareef Abdur-Rahim to New Jersey for shooting guard Kerry Kittles and backup power forward Aaron Williams:

According to league sources, the Nets and Portland have discussed swapping Kerry Kittles and Aaron Williams for Shareef Abdur-Rahim. While nothing is imminent, the Blazers are looking to trade their unhappy forward, who will receive $14.6 million in the final year of his contract.

And the trade could be expanded to include even more players:
While Kittles and Abdur-Rahim are the principals in a potential deal, the trade could be expanded to include Portland's Ruben Patterson and the Nets' Lucious Harris and Rodney Rogers. The Nets, however, had reservations about Patterson last summer when they talked to Portland about a possible trade for Wallace.

Kittles is in the final year of a contract that will pay him $10 million this season. </div>

I personaly dislike this trade from the blazers stand point. Yeah, they need a better shotting guard, and yeah they need more depth in the guard rotation but trading for Kerry Kittle is not exciting for the blazers fans. I rather they trade for Ray Allen, or even Brent Barry. Plus this will decrease the blazer trading value too.

They both have big contracts, and are aging players. If SAR is just going to leave the Blazers this offseason, it's worth doing for the Blazers as they will get something out of him. The Nets are rumored to be leaving Kittles unprotected, and Charlotte may take him. I can't see any team getting an immediate impact from the trade, and the Blazers and Nets should be able to do better than this.

Well you are wrong. Shareef has an expiring contract NEXt season. So this year, he can not leave us. That is why he is such a great trading bit, not only he is a great player, but his contract expire next season. I dont think Shareef is that old. He was draft the same year as Rasheed, Joe Smith, KG. They are not that old. He still have maybe 6 or 7 years left in him, or even more.

As good as he can be, he's no good coming off the bench. He's been a 20/10 guy all his career and I doubt that he won't demand a trade in time. After all, veteran players like him want to start and be a main guy on offense, not backing up a 22 year-old.

Trade him while he has some trade value.

Blazers should trade him, he's old and he's rotting on the bench they should get someone that would be some use to him. I would be happy with this deal it would beneift both teams and the blazer's particularly.

Dude, im sick of all those BS about Shareef is old, dude, he only played 7 seasons. He was drafted the same year as allen iverson, macus camby, starberry, Ray Allen, Antonio walker,, even Kerry Kittle, steve nash, Predrag Stojakovic, Jermaine O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. So far, im not considering Ray Allen, Stephon Mabury, Steve Nash, Peja, Jermanine Oneal and Kobe Bryant old. Plus if Kerry Kittle and Sharref are drafted in the same year, that means that age doesnt matter in this Blazers/ nets trade.

I'm all for SAR going somewhere else. He's too nice of a guy and too good of a player to be in the shadow of Randolph, he could really help teams with his overall versatility. And I totally agree, he's not old.

They need someone younger, someone more consistent and stronger. Barry does sound like the best choice, he has defense and a great shot. I feel he has a better will to win than most. Also even though it'd be in Kittles, I think the veterancy in Allen and Barry better.

    ^i like the as well

why get Kerry if u can get Ray Allen but look at the new Draft Chart for the blazers

    Theo Ratlif/Vladimir Stepaina/Theo Ratliff
    Zach Randolph/Vlademir Stepaina/Travis Outlaw
    Darius Miles/Ruben Patterson/Qyntel Woods
    Ray Allen/Derek Anderson/Eddie Gill
    Damon Stoudimare/Dan Dickau/Omar Cook

i say we trade Dale Davis,SAR,Derek Anderson and 2nd round pick for Ray Allen,Jerome James,Ronald Murray and 2nd round pick

so the draft chart after the that trade turns like this

    Theo/Jerome/Theo
    Zach/Vlidmir/Travis?
    Darius/Ruben/Qyntel
    Ray/Flip/Eddie
    Damon/Dan/Omar

but i say they should do a trade after they draft there 2 first rounders

^ No way do the Sonics give up Flip Murray & Ray Allen in that deal. Shareef is pretty similar to all those jumpshooting bigbodies they already have on their team, except he is a mid-range shooter instead of launching 3's like say Rashard Lewis. You would think giving up that much perimeter depth the Soncis would look to get an over dominate low-post bigbody.

And why, with all the injury set backs the Sonics had this year at the 2-guard with Ray Allen, Brent Barry etc would they be interested in adding Derek Anderson, who has been injury prone since his days at Kentucky.

Did anyone other than me not realize that Kittles was making $10 million? That's overkill to the fullest.

-Shareef for rashad lewis and one of Seatle's useless bigman(for a short time contract)
-Shareef and DADarius for Shawn Marion

I think that these two trades are a lot smarter, probably too smart for nash but still ,maybe he'll suprise me.

na, this one wont work becasue if just only Shareef for Rashad, this will cause more problems with our forward problems, becasue after the trade either Darius or Rashad have to go to bench. Plus there are Ruben Patterson and Qyntel Woods waiting for playing time too.

Of course it will cause problems,i think that this team need to do at least 4 more major trades,no matter how you'll twist it around, the Trail-Blazers cannot remain a First round candidate only every year, its a too respecteble franchise to be one, just like Detroit had to rebuild.do some trades, get some draft picks and replace the coach so does the Blazers,if they want to get anywhere that is...

and BTW:why not Shareef and D.A for Shawn Marion?
both miles and the Matrix can play SG,the Defense will improve and the Suns are giving me the imprsession that they want to get rid of him.
and maybe signing some 3 point shooter like Keon Dooling to cover Derek's Scoring ability a little.(even though i read that Portland is going after Stephan Jackson...)
