Great draft day combo for the raptors to consider

Ok the raptors pick at 8 and I believe 39 the two players that I think they should take would be jameer nelson and D. west. They would pick to players that already have chemistry and would play very well off the bench together or in the starting lineup.

We have no player to really play the point since alvin williams has all his injures. Then besides for mo pete we got no real 2 guard so west would fit in well with the team. Then we could explore trade options for players that have big contracts that dont really play.

Anyone have any thoughts on this possible duo reuniting in toronto? It would give VC alot of help and provide a jump shooting perimeter team. We could also then explore trade options for rose knowing that we will still have a good shooting team.

It sounds good but Toronto is already stocked with guards. They need more big men to develope and they could choose a good project with the second rounder.

Plus just to add on to CourtVision's post, is that there is no possible way Delonte West will be available at 39th because I really think Indy will jump on him. Larry Bird loves him and seen him play in person at the Xavier game in which West went 12 for 12 from the field.

I've never heard of him, but then again I haven't paid attention to the draft prospects..

all i gotta say is Why? I know he can battle in the post and will do the dirty for us, but from what I saw, this was a big surprise.

    So we took Rafael Araujo

How do you guys feel about the pick? I could [IMG] right now I mean we had a chance at Iguodala, and Nelson. We could've had freaking Podkolzine who I think will be better then Araujo...I'm really disappointed with this draft and it's hurting me being a Raptors fan right now.

Horrible pick imo. Should have taken nelson to play point for them. Then took a guy in the second round that they could develope to play center. Buty what you gona do hope he does well in canada but I dont see it happening. Man I am very upset at that pick.

It's a fact that no european player who played for the Raptors were good. I know for a fact that this trend will happen. Biggest surprise pick in draft history, and possibly the worst in draft history. If this great great GM somehow picked him, then it won't necessarily mean he will automatically be a bust.

Just because he's an unknown foreign player, don't bash him like that. He might form a triple threat on the Raptors.

what is this crap, seriously, this guy suck!!!!!!!! How the hell could me take this fat crao instead of one of the best players in Igudala. i hate the raptors office, and most of the team, where do they get these gm, where, on the street or something, do these guys have a brain. Come on this guy is horrible, how stupid can Babcock be. I thought he has good, Grunward has better. THis is the stupids team ever

i would rather have them take Andris Biendrins if they were going big, but they shouldve picked Jameer Nelson.. Araujo has a tag on him that says ''Bust''.. im very disspointed on the pick.

now now ppl don't get too fiesty about him... he did average 18 pts and 10 boards in BYU..... so he could be a great addition for the Raptors or the next ....... great bust

honestly...why are people so pissed about this pick??? obviously the raps worked this guy out, and liked him...im pretty sure that they know what they are doing. hes a big man, thats what we need. comments like this are just retarded:

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Baller_Deluxe:</div><div class="quote_post">How do you guys feel about the pick? I could [IMG] right now I mean we had a chance at Iguodala, and Nelson. podkolzine played a total of 62 minutes of semi-professional ball in europe. he avg'd 2.3 points per game...how in gods name do you know this guy is better then our pick??

jameer was passed up by a lot of teams...there must be some reason for this. id rather get a big man, we have at least one point guard, we dont have a single center. gordon and harris were gone....we got a 7fter, lets see what he can do.

I really love how GG predicted this pick, did any mock drafts predict this situation? IMO it looks like GG knows the situation in toronto and what the current system still is.

Otherwise, I hope the Raptors did some good research and picked a good international player htis year.

I'm totally disapointed with this pick. Araujo can be good but not for us, Jameer was available and we passed him up. Stupid in my opinion. I snapped when Stern called his name, but when you think of the FA market (and availability of course) of the big men and the PGs, it doesn't seem that bad.

Well I'm not happy, but not extremely angry, it happens, he's a big guy though. Things that translate from college to the NBA in regards to big men, FG%, offensive rebounds, and blocks.
He shot 57%, averaged 2.9 offensive rebounds, and 0.8 blocks.

57% will translate to something like 47-50% shooting his first year, 2.9 offensive rebounds isn't that great, he doesn't look like someone that'll be big on the offensive glass, but something like 2.1 offensive rebounds a game.
0.8 blocks means he won't be a shot blocker at all, he'll get something like 0.5 blocks a game in the NBA.

My prediction for next year, 8.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 0.4 blocks, 47% FG, and 26.1 minutes a game.

exactly. there are no guarantees with the draft, and this year especially, its tough to pick one player that WILL make an impact. this guy addresses one of our two needs...18 and 10 in a proven league, doesnt look like too bad a pick to me, and with the wealth of talent available in the free-agent market, raps still have a good chance at improving. this guy could be our new robert archibald, cept with some skill

after trades, and signings, this could turn out to be an okay pick.
