<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">At this time a year ago, the Timberwolves were preparing for what would be a substantial roster overhaul that propelled them into the Western Conference finals. After the best postseason in team history, owner Glen Taylor doesn't see any reason for more drastic alterations. Besides, last season's moves didn't leave him with much money to spend. "We have most of our key guys signed for next season," Taylor said a day after a 96-90 Game 6 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers bounced the Wolves from the playoffs. "We do want to re-sign some guys, like Trenton (Hassell) and Fred (Hoiberg). We don't have a lot of cap room to do much. There's always the possibility of trade, but we don't have anything in mind at this point. You always have to keep it open, though." One of the first priorities is to make sure swingman Latrell Sprewell and backup point guard Troy Hudson are not playing elsewhere. Sprewell's agent said Tuesday it would make more sense for the swingman to decline the option year on his contract and seek a longer deal. Robert Gist said he and Sprewell, scheduled to make $14.6 million next season, likely will talk next week.</div> Rest of Article
^ I didnt get to read the entire article because you have to sign up to read the article. But if Sprewell is going to decline the option year & ask for another long term contract. That isnt good for the Wolves imo. How many years are they really willing to invest in a aging-2guard, I doubt the Wolves would give him a long term deal if he ask for one which means Spree could leave. Spree needs to use the option year. And stay with the Wolves, & try to win a championship. A championship always looks good on the resume, when asking for new money
i always thought he was gonna stay since no one would probably offer him the 14 million his option would pay him

He'd make more than he's making now & we'd get a break capwise. Giving him more than a 4 yr. deal is foolish but 3 or 4 yrs. are fine. Spree's shown that he's still got alot left in the tank.

I don't get it. If a team goes wins or loses in the conference finals or the finals, isn't it common sense to retain the roster, so you can win another championship? Why do these players insist to leave a team in which they had one of the best achievements out of every team?
greed my friend. everyone has ego's ane believe that they are the reason for the team to have success and management should rotate around that person. not everyone has an ego, but the ones who do-have big ones. with the wolves not getting out of the 1st rd, then spree and sam come in and they get to the conf finals, you know spree is probably trying to take most of the success credit. yea he will give some to sam and some to kev, but he will want to take more b/c that is who spree is. he wants to be the guy and isnt, but he does fell he put the team over and would want that much more money. if spree wants a ring, he will stay in minny, if he wants money, he might as well go to phx or a team like atlanta who have a boat load of money to spend

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Henacy:</div><div class="quote_post">I didnt say big money, I said new money as in extension.</div> I know you didn't say big money. Neither did I. I'm just saying that Spree's opting out now might be because he had a terrific postseason, making this the best time to sign an extension & make more $ than he's currently making. I'm betting that KG's talked with him & told him he wants him around. KG's also started lobbying for THud's return. It'd be nice to get him done soon, though after the Expansion Draft. If Spree follows THud into opting out, that means the T'Wolves wouldn't have to protect anyone for that draft.
i don't think spree will want out. It would dissapointing to see this lineup end because it can get better for another 2 - 3 seasons i think.. Sammy n Spree still have it in them, i dont think Spree's dream of a ring is going to come on a better squad than the wolves next year (especially if they do something with the center position). Whats the situation with Hassell and Hoibs? where do there contracts stand?? i'd really like to see them back next season as well with a healthy hudson.

He's finally playing for a winner again, his parents attend most of the home games & he loves playing with KG. I'm betting that Trenton signs an extension with the T'Wolves, too, because he hates playing against KG. If we offer him the LLE, I'm sure he'd stay, especially if we tell him we'll take care of him when those 2 yrs. are up.
