This is not a rumor or anything, I just thought of it myself while I was extremely bored. The Utah Jazz are trying to get the #1 pick, what do you guys think of this trade. Magic Get Andrei Kirilenko and 14th pick, first round Jazz Get 1st overall pick and Drew Gooden, Reece Gaines In terms of salary it will work, Utah has a lot of cap room.
Kirilenko is real good and I like him a lot, but I don't think he's worth all of that. He was an All-Star this year and had a great season but I wouldn't trade my #1 pick and Gooden for a SF.. especially considering Gooden is bigger and they're going to be drafting a big guy too. This just doesn't work for me really.
I don't think Utah is gonna trade Kirilenko, they may trade every other player on the roster but not their franchise player. He was and all-star in his third season!Kirilenko is also very verstaitle(spelling?).I think Utah will not trade Kirilenko for a #1 pick who may become a bust but Gooden makes the trade very interesting.
No.. We are fine at the SF Postion.. That trade basically sucks... Not only are we giving up on Gaines, we are getting rid of Gooden AND the number one pick.. All for another player at the postion we have no problem with..
I don't like this trade from Utah's perspective, actually. Kirilenko is a legit superstar IMO, and the sort of guy you can build a franchise around. To give that up I don't see the point, no matter how good Dwight Howard or Emeka Okafor are 'certain' to be. Gooden is a fairly good player and I knw Gaines was highly rated before the 2003 draft, but Utah have cap space and 3 first rounders of their own - sure they'd benefit from the trade, but I just feel by doing it they're basically saying 'We're not going to get anywhere with Kirilenko and we need to change the composition of the team'.

Kirilenko is also very capable of playing the four - he did it successfully in the West, no reason he can't do it in the East. I would do this trade in a second for Orlando, because they land a superstar player and a first round pick for unproven, however promising, goods.
From my standpoint i think Kerilenko would be a good addition to their team and they would still be pretty high in the daft which would allow them to get another solid rookie that they could build up with. I think this trade could maybe work if andrei could play another positon for the magic. But i really believe that the magic would be really hurt in the post. so i say no to this trade. I cant wait to see Okafur and Gooden hitting the boards together.

But if the magic would do that trade.. They would have to unload an Small Forward.. Possibly including one in that trade... But at this point it makes no sense for Orlando, until they get rid of Grant Hill and stop thinking hes going to make a big return..

You do the trade first and worry about your roster composition second, not the other way around.
This could possibly be one of the most impacting trades if it were to go through. Not only is AK47 a great and versatile player. He has height and defense which severely lacks in most of the Magic. I say go for it, giving up Gooden is a bad idea. I've talked about him with Dre and like he said, when given minutes he will produce. Give him time, he'll be great, remember all the other stupid giveaways you've done? Big Ben, Shaq....
I would do this in a heartbeat if I was ORL. Gooden hasnt proved himself to be a true NBA stud yet, while Kirilenko has. Kirilenko is arguebaly one of the best all around players in teh game, offense and defense.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Magic Johnson:</div><div class="quote_post">remember all the other stupid giveaways you've done? Wallace was unproven and Hill was coming off a sensational season - it's rich to see people criticize the Magic now with the benefit of hindsight. Shaq left via free agency.

I always thought he was the best all around player in the game but his injuries seem to have made people forget how special he was.
Utah would be very hesitant to give up AK47. He's their franchise player. Utah are interested in the #1 pick, but I think they are more likely to give up all their 3 first rounders(14, 16 and 21) and some other fillers to get the #1 pick than to trade AK47. AK47 is basically untouchable. Since they have lots of cap space, they may be willing to take on Grant Hill's contract. Carlos Arroyo is good friends with Deshawn Stevenson, and has said he would like to play in Orlando. He would be involved in a Utah/Orlando trade if one is to happen. Matt Harpring is also on the trading block.
I would love to have AK on the Magic roster. He's is a baller. He has great defense, which we are obviously lacking and would give Tmac some legit help, you can only give up so much though. We are giving up waaaaay too much for him. We are pretty deep at the SF position and Drew Gooden is a potential superstar, as well as the 1st pick. I would give up #1 pick and Gaines for him in a heartbeat, but not #1 and Gooden.
As the Magic, I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. Some people are forgetting, Kirilenko is a legit all-star and he led his team (since Harpring was out for most of season) and they nearly got to the playoffs in the west, if he can do that, that's definite 8th seed in the east. Think about a lineup like this: PG-Jameer Nelson (with 14th pick) SG-Tracy McGrady SF-Andrei Kirilenko PF-Juwan Howard C-Steven Hunter Although from Utah's POV, I'd definitely say no, AK47 really isn't gonna go anywhere
If I was the Magic GM I would certainly want Kirilenko,he brings everything the Magic lack,he will get you blocks and steals and he is a good on the ball defender, also he seems to very agressive on offense, someone who is not afraid to penetrate.I think T-Mac would be satisfied if this trade happened.
