<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sacramento's Mike Bibby is the latest original member of Team USA to surrender his Olympic spot, ESPN.com has learned. Sources also told ESPN.com that the need for a point guard to replace Bibby makes Miami rookie Dwyane Wade a more likely addition to the roster than Denver's Carmelo Anthony. Bibby had been considered on the fence by USA Basketball for weeks, but sources say the selection committee has formally moved on in hopes of securing commitments from four players to fill out the roster. Six replacements have already been chosen to join Duncan and Iverson: Cleveland's LeBron James, New York's Stephon Marbury, New Jersey's Richard Jefferson, Detroit's Ben Wallace and the Phoenix duo of Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudemire. Marbury is the only recognized point guard in that group. Although James and Iverson are also capable of handling the ball, Wade's odds of earning an 11th-hour invitation have thus increased, especially with USAB's emphasis on youth in the wake of losing so many veterans.</div> <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/columns/story? columnist=stein_marc&id=1817096" target="_blank">Wade would be better fit than 'Melo</a> I like the idea of Wade going because it'd be good experience for him, but I also don't like the idea because I don't want him havingthe chance of being injured I also don't think he'd be the best fit, someone like Redd might be better, and Wade as a PG may not be the best pick. Cassell will likely not go due to injuries, and I don't know if Baron Davis was already an option, but he's also injured. As a PG I think it'd be better for them to look at someone like Hinrich, he fills the role of a passer, and a shooter.
I just read this story a minute ago, and I would agree Wade is a better fit. He's a pointguard that's what they need. Plus I think it could help him develop his PG skills if he spent the summer with a guy like Marbury. It's unbelievable how many players are dropping out of this Olympic team though, the U.S. team isn't nearly as impressive anymore.
I completely agree with Phreeze. Wade would be a better fit to the team being that he is a PG. Other than Stephon Marbury and quite possibly Allen Iverson Team USA has no PG's. Also is there any particular reason why Mike Bibby decided to opt out?
Well i'm happy that they offered Dwayne Wade an opurtunity after the awesome season he had. this will be some more experience that this promising rook will recieve now. With playoff experience and olympics. I believe he can really prove to be a great superstar in the future.
While I really like Dwyane Wade, with Bibby gone Team USA basically has no shooters at all. Basically everyone that's left is either a post-player or slasher, which should be a big concern. Makes me wonder if the people on the selection committee really know what they're doing considering the games of the replacements they've been adding for the past months.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Dwyane Wade is still waiting to exhale. For now, the Heat guard continues to breathe in an intoxicating start to his NBA career. Less than three weeks after completing an unlikely ride to the Eastern Conference semifinals, Wade on Monday confirmed that he has been selected for the team of NBA players that will represent the United States at summer's Athens Olympics. "It's been a whirlwind for me," he said of a remarkable year that began last June with his low-profile selection in the draft behind more-heralded newcomers LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. Now Wade is going to Greece, as a teammate to James, selected ahead of Anthony. "To represent your country as an Olympian, especially being so young, is exciting," said the 22-year-old, taken with the fifth pick last June.</div> Wade confirms selection to U.S. Olympics team
Wade prolly wont go, he aint a shooter, and the TEAM USA needs a shooter since they have none anymore since everyone's quit the team... Wade need's to get a better J before he goes. Even though I lov ehim.

Finally someone truly exciting, maybe he'll do something as sick as Vinsanity had done. Good luck to him, booyah to showtime!
I hope so too, I'm really excited to see Wade and Marion on the court, good stuff. Hey Magic Johnson, I'm loving yous sig and avatar, nice stuff.
This is a great thing people, Im so happy for Wade. He's been hilarious this season and having James and him plus Marbury as a guard doesnt sound bad at all. Im actually glad Bibby didnt go, hes great but id prefer young people having their chances and pratice their skills than old ones
Yeehee, Wade is here. But uh, what outside shooting does the U.S. have though. It seems like the lanes are gonna be clogged up and there won't be any realible options to kick the ball back out to.
I think Odom is way more deserving than Wade. Lamar has became such a better player since the Clippers trade and feel that he even proved himself as a possible all-star in the 05 season.
Yeah man, Odom is the real deal. He will be an all-star next season almost guaranteed if he keeps it up. As for Wade, i congradulate him, but I dunno what's gonna happen with the US team, barely any outside shooting... AND barely anyone who has a real good post up game.
