you know for all Brown's purity of the love of the game.... he should've fouled. The Lakers had no timeouts and if they had been fouled before attempting the 3 (Shaq, Kobe, Walton), they would have 2 shots and even that wouldn't have tied the game, the Pistons could've just inbounded, get fouled, make the first freethrow, and then purposefully miss the second. time wouldve ran out;. yo and how about luke, bill's pride and joy? amazing clutch. some of those passes, stunned like even kobe, when he got the ball from 2 feet from the basket. jackson needs to give him more confidence to play more in crunch time.
I anyone is going to be compared to MJ in this league there is only 1 player who can come close. His name is Kobe and he brings his Jordan imitation out when needed in the best ways. He was just ridiculous by hitting that clutch jumper last night, but I do think that Brown should of had Prince covering Kobe at that time in the game. And did anyone notice the 2 mistakes that Billups made in OT? There was two times were he had the ball at the left hand side of the top of the key and Ben came up to set a right side screen on Fisher and Billups went with the fake and went to the left. He ran right into a double team of Shaq and Fisher, I feel that he could have went to the right a avoided a turnover and possibly kicked out for a open jumper. Well anyway that's my opinion.
I thought Billups or the Pistons biggest mistake was wasting so much time off the shot clock in key possessions. they had a fast break opportunity but then they slowed it down and eventually the ball got to okur with like 5 seconds left, he's not a great passer but when stuck in that possession you gotta shoot it, and he passed it off to another pistons with less than like a second to go. that happened too many times to count. but the lakers had their follibles... like kobe freelancing defender. Heck put him on the freaking floor to guard Hamilton or Billups, not choose. it takes too much from him to figure out each player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TreelVille:</div><div class="quote_post">I really have to say even though I am a huge Pistons fan I think that they played thier A game during the 4th and OT.</div> is scoring 2points in OT (lowest in nba history) considered playing their A game? if thats thier Agame, then they are going to have problems for the rest of the series. kobe is simply amazing. by now, shots like that wouldnt seem to shock me, but i still get shocked. man, detroit choked at the end of the 4th. la is too good to be given an extra life. going up 2-0 and going home gives you an awsome chance at winning the whole thing and they lost their composure. i know people will say that at least they got a split, but with seconds left and up by two baskets you should win the game, especially with good defense that detroit has and their defense let them down. i know detroit really wont lose sleep b/c they are tied and going home, but they still gotta feel that they have given the lakers all the momentum and life in this series.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">[/b]Whenever you lose a game like that ion your grasps, you lose momentum...the Pistons had it one..up 6 with 45 seconds left...they let SHAQ GET A 3 POINT PLAY, and they failed to foul him when he had the ball on the inbounds play, they failed to put 2 men on Kobe, and he made them pay...that will def. deflate a teams momentum, and give the momentum to the other team.</div> I can see your point, but when your flying as high as the Pistons are in their level of confidence against the Lakers, Larry looks at his team and says... "The only thing this means is that they're (the Lakers) not going to get swept, and who expected them to be anyways?". Most teams don't have to double team anyone because of the overall <u>TEAM DEFENSE</u>, but the way Sheed was working Malone, they had/have to do something about it and that will open up shots for other players. Something that bothers me is when people argue OBVIOUS fouls. Example's, Rip Hamilton pushes off of Kobe and gets a "T" for arguing, Rip is crossing the lane and Kobe jumps from behind a Laker and knocks down Hamilton (Foul #5).
That was simply a Great Game that both teams put on OT,and The Pistons showed me that there really, really good team..But once again Kobe played great ball, and was one of the reasons that the Lakers came out with the Big W But..this Lakers-Pistons series is not going to be easy,as i predict there are going to be a lot more game like the first 2 that will occur!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Detroit07:</div><div class="quote_post">Then again, I hate Kobe more than anything. Its great in America that you can get pulled over and thrown in jail for the smallest things, but if your a well-known athlete you can rape a girl and still be free. Good for kobe, a rapist and an adultrer, good shot for such a morally corrupt SOB...</div> What's all this hate about Kobe you have inside of yourself??? Please, it's one thing to get on him for that game tying shot because you're a Piston fan, but to call him a rapist which hasn't even been proven is unacceptable and ridiculous. Know what you're talking about before you come strong like that. Unbelieveable.
i really have to put my two cents on this win....... WHAT A GAME!!! Where can I start?? In the first quarter, it was basically even, and I mean that both teams played excellent team defense, everybody worked hard for their shots and nothing was easy at all. But then in the second quarter, a rookie basically took the game over and his name is Luke Walton. His performance by far was his best moment in his young NBA career. Not only did he provide an instant spark off the bench, but with his dazzling display of his vision and passing ability, he put the Lakers in an excellent position to win. And each one of his eight assists was very important. Kinda disturbing and sad when Luke Walton being a rookie can do so much but Gary Payton can only score two points and sulk on the bench. Once again, the Lakers blew their double digit lead and am I surprised?? The Pistons came back in the second half, they went on a run, and showed a lot of heart. Late in the 4th, the Pistons had a six point lead with 35 seconds to go, and I immediately started thinking the worst. I started thinking about a 2-0 series deficit and I started saying to myself, what's next in this Hollywood script??? Shaq was fouled by Wallace, Shaq converted the freebie, and I said great. I was screaming at my TV along with my dad and cousin who are huge Laker fans like myself, and all we said was we needed one final stop. We got that stop with about 10 ticks to go on the clock. My cousin and I argued during that time about which player should get the ball, Kobe or Derek Fisher? I said look, Kobe loves these types of moments. He shines in these moments. Get him the ball and allow him to do his thing. If we win or lose by the three, let it be. But I'd rather want the ball in #8's hands. And what happened?? Kobe was isolated by Rip, took a couple dribbles, and shot it. Nothin' but net. My house goes immediately crazy. When it hit overtime, I knew my team was not gonna lose this game. You just saw that fire in Kobe's eyes, and when he's heated, he will carry the Lakers on his back, and that he did in the overtime period. And oh yeah, Luke Walton?? Exclamation point on an alley-oop to Shaq that finished Detroit. I am very confident heading up to Detroit for three games in a row. The Lakers have been in this same situation before. They should have all the confidence and momentum in the world right now with the way they took Game 2. If Shaq and Kobe are on their A games, and our role players can contribute to the best of their abilities, there's no way we can't send 22,076 screaming fans at the Palace h-o-m-e. GO LAKERS, and HANDLE THE BUSINESS!!!
