<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"><u>Steve Logan:</u>Was a great point guard at Cincinnati, but his height prevented him from being selected in the first round. I thought he would tear it up and prove all doubters wrong when Golden State selected him, but that never happened. Did he even play a game for the Warriors?</div> Naw imo it was pretty clear he wouldnt last on the NBA level. He shot the ball way to much to run a team on the NBA level. And he didnt have the skills to play an undersized 2-guard. But it was fun watching this cat run up & down the court pulling up from three on what seems like an every offensive trip. BTW, The Nets said last week, Eddie Griffen is expected to be with the team at the start of training camp for those of you that put him on you disappeared list.
Toby Bailey is in Greece right now, making a bit of a splash in the Greek A league for Aris. He put up 14 ppg shooting .515/.447/.781, 4.8 rpg and a shade over 1 spg in 31 minutes per contest. He also made the all-import team. Not too shabby but he did have more turnovers than assists this season...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting IKeepsItTreel:</div><div class="quote_post">Is this the Dante jones that dunked on a man fell to the ground and started doing pushups in the camera. If so I havent seen any of him in the NBA. And I thought he was going to be an exciting rook to watch. iactually thought he was gioing to throw down dunks like Wade was throwing down on guys. btw I never even heard of d wade before I saw him in the League</div> Really? Triple double in the final four? I thought Steve Logan would at least play in the league, contract negotiation problems, he was holding out, then I never heard of him again.
Well Terrell Brandon was an all-star and all. But man, what happened to him? I know he got injured and all, but I don't even see him sitting on the sidelines like Grant Hill. Oh and I honestly thought Predrag Savovic would be a solid player in the league. Oh well.
How about my man Lenny Cooke? Before Lebron James, there was Lenny Cooke. If only he was mature enough to do good in school and choose the right persons to hang out with. I've seen him play man. He got game. Here's the good, the bad and the ugly on him according to Chad Ford. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If Lenny Cooke opts for the NBA, he's got a good chance of sneaking into the first round of the draft based on his potential alone. He's in a similar position to DeShawn Stevenson, who was drafted by the Utah Jazz late in the first round of 2000. Based on consultation with several NBA scouts, here's the skinny on his game. The Good: He's a phenomenal athlete, explosive scorer and fierce rebounder. Cooke's got a real knack for slashing to the basket and finishing in the open court. Think Jerry Stackhouse. The Bad: No jumper and shaky handle. Most of Cooke's points come from within 10 feet of the basket. He has virtually no three-point range and his mid-range jumper is streaky. His ball-handling skills are below average for a two-guard leading to costly turnovers. The Ugly: He doesn't always play hard and makes coaches work overtime to get him motivated. With a track record of questionable personal decisions and a poor work ethic in the classrom, his character could causes teams to take a pass on him.</div> Link
Man guys, Thanks! You brought back some old memories by post some of the names of these guys that I havent heard about in ages. Pretty cool, and by the way Steve Logan was the man but I think he had an attitude problem and bad work ethic issues when he went to Golden St.
Whatever happened to Matt Maloney, the starting PG on those Olajuwon-Drexler-Barkley teams in Houston?
^ He last played during the 2002-2003 season for Atlanta. He played 14 games before going down with an injury I think.
Yea, Lenny Cooke was another one. Very good possibility that he could have been a good player. But, due to the fact that he couldn't play his senior year and still went draft, that killed his chances. The other one I saw while looking through was Luke Recker. I think his health problems hurt him. At a point in time when he first started at Iowa and was tearing it up, people were talking about him being a potential lottery pick after his senior year and what not. But, than he hurt his knee later that year and had to sit out half of the year. He did come back the next year in full health and did play great. But, I think that because that team with Evans and Recker that year was supposed to be so good and ended up underachieving (19-11 I believe), that hurt him. Tie that in with the knee problem from the year before and I think that says it all right there.
Corey Alexander - Virginia Junior Burrough - Virginia Both quality ballers but does anyone know who that white guy's name is that played for Fresno St a while ago that had all the alcohol problems. He actually did a special on ESPN. He's was a great 3point shooter probably about 6'2 and I think his last name was Heron. (Scott or Chris)
i just started following the nba 4 years ago, so i wudnt no much about what kinda players got a lotta hype in the early 90s or watever, but anyway here is who i thut shuda been good then just disapeared 1. diop(eventho he hasnt played much, he is doing much worse than i think he shud be doing ) 2. jay williams(he wasnt great in his rookie year like i thut he wuda been, but the motocycle injury is really sad) 3. darius miles( well i guess he didnt really disappeared based on normal nba players expectations , but with people's expectation and standards on him, u can say that he disapeared)
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Wave:</div><div class="quote_post">Speaking of Virginia players, what ever happened to Roger Mason, Jr. and Travis Watson?</div> Curtis Staples played in the NBDL last year, I know that...
Sam Bowie has got to be the worst pick ever.... Olowokandi should be up there as one of the worst ever...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting navyballer18:</div><div class="quote_post">what about bo kimble and fredrick weis</div> Frederic Weis I believe is the highest drafted player who was allowed to go to Europe to further "develop" his game. He was drafted number 15 by the Knicks. He never came back. Interesting to note that guys like Artest, AK47, Foster and Kenny Thomas was taken after him. Plus, he's a 7'2 player who's not a banger. It wouldn't work that well in the NBA. He'll always be known as the "French guy who got dunked over by Vince". Bo Kimble is now in Philadelphia busy with his foundation.
Sam Perkins. He was okay when he was with Pacers.... he was a center/ power forward that could hit 3 pointers, so that was a plus., but he just dissapeared.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Biggie_Little:</div><div class="quote_post">Sam Perkins. I think he was like 41 or 42 years old. He dissapeared to a retirement home. His career was the best way before he got into Indiana anyway. With Dallas he was a consistant 15 ppg and 8 rpg player. He also had nice stints with the Sonics and Lakers. One season he averaged as much as 16.5 ppg and 8.8 rpg. That was way back in 1991 though. He was a rookie in 1984. Wow...
Sam Clancy.... a Sixers' draft pick a few years ago. He never played but I always heard good things about him. He was cut this year.
