Dampier seems like a great defensive center that the Magic need badly. I can imagine Dampier and Okafor in the front court. The team would be awesome

Thinking of trading Howard, Gooden, maybe Lue or Garrity and some 2nd round draft picks, for him...

He'd be a great pick up.
There would be no more big man problems in Orlando...

It would have to be a sign and trade because dampier is a free agent.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Warriors will re-sign him...

Doubt he would ever sign with Magic straight from free agency.

Unless Magic work Hill's, or other valued players' contracts out, I don't think they will have much cap space left for Dampier.
Orlando also needs money to sign a good point guard and drafties. Then there is also D.Stevenson to worry about...
I would love to see Dampier in Orlando, but he will likely ask for a very, very big contract with the team, since they have NBA's worst record and all...

I don't understand your reason, but if you are implying that Dampier wouldn't want to sign with the Magic because of its record then I think you are wrong. GoldenState is a terrible team as well, so why would he want to resign with them? I agree with what ZEro just wrote.

Don't have a comeback for that [IMG]

But I am guessing that Warriors have enough money to re-sign him... Or some other team signs him then trades to Magic [IMG]

That would be a good trade lol...I wouldn't mind trading Gooden to get Okafor at the 4 and Dampier at the 5 if we get to keep T-Mac...Gooden , Juwan Howard , Reece Gaines and a 2nd round pick for a trade-sign of Dampier? I would do it..

There you go Einitials. Some reasonable & realistic trade scenarios. Do you see the difference in responses?

If the Magic can get Dampier without giving up their #1 pick I'd be jumping with joy. It would probably cost Gooden and some other players. Or maybe just our 2nd round pick.

Having Dampier & Okafor in the frontcourt would be a major upgrade. 15 more days till the draft!

That wouldn't be too smart, IMO. Gooden, Juwan and a 2nd for Dampier? Dampier had a good season last year, but he's in his low 30's(I believe) and that was his 1st year of that caliber. Do you think he will continue to have years like that as he ages? I don't. Anyway, why would GS want 2 more PF's, when they already have Cardinal and Murphy?

I didn't mean all three. I re-read my post, I don't know how you got that context. [IMG]

I meant some kind of combination of those 3.

Honestly, I don't know the value of Dampier seeing he is a free agent. Magic would be foolish to give up too much but G.S might just let them go if the players the Magic offer don't interest them.

The reason Dampier had an awesome this year was because of his increased playing time. If you checked the stats, you will see that the previous 7 years Dampier averaged 24 mins per game while this year he average 33 mpg. In that 9 more mintues he increased his rebounds and scoring drastically. I am also pretty sure that he will recieve that amount(or even more) of playing time with that magic.

ALso I don't think his age is a problem. Juwan Howard is in his 30's and I rather have Dampier than him.

BN you do have a comeback!
Dampier would attract several teams not just orlando and the warriors so why would he go to a losing team (which he's been on for years) when he could go to a winner like INDIANA

I doubt he would sign with Indiana. The Pacers are clotted with talented players who can play the center position. I don't see him signing a deal with the pacers to sit on the bench. That would be a waste of talent.
