Who is the most underrated player in college basketball?

All the college basketball sites that I have seen focus exclusively on the major conferences and the players that everyone has already seen and heard about. I figured that this website would be one that had knowledgeable fans that could introduce other members to the more less heralded players in the country.

In every NBA draft there are players who have played at small schools who are drafted over (or produce more when they are in the league) these NCAA All-Americans that we hear about all season long. Looking forward to the 2004-2005 season I'm interested in knowing who are some of the best players in the country that most people have never heard of?

My most underrated player in college is Mike Hall from BYU. He will be a senior next season and is the reigning defensive player of the year in the Mountain West Conference. He is a 6'3'' shooting guard who can do it all offensively. He can shoot, put it on the floor, post up, pass, and has a 40 inch vertical leap. He is also a tenacious defender. In saying all this he only averaged about 13 points a game but that was b/c last year BYU was on a senior laced team who ran their offense through possible lottery pick Rafael Araujo. Mike replaced former BYU standout and current Atlanta Hawk Travis Hansen after coming from a JUCO. Last year (being that it was his first year at BYU) he deferred to the upper classmen but this upcoming season he will be undoubtedly be looked to as the go to guy. His future in the NBA is questionable b/c of his height (if he were 6'6'' he'd be a lottery pick), but I guarantee that he will be a top notch college basketball player next season.

He isn't the most underrated, but a player I like to watch is Keydren Clark. He is a sophomore from St. Peter's. They play in the MAAC. He is only 5'9". If he were taller, he would have been a major recruit.

    Freshman Stats - 24.9 PPG, 4.2 APG, 3.3 RPG, 1.4 SPG
    Sophomore Stats - 26.7 PPG, 4.3 APG, 4.3 RPG, 1.8 SPG

I will name some more later.

I played in the MAAC. I heard that he is legit, I just haven't had the chance to see him play yet.

Tony Washam from St. Vincent College (NAIA) is someone else who is on the radar of many NBA GM's. He's a 6'7'' small forward who has already scored over 2,000 points in his three years at the school. Last year he led the NAIA in scoring at close to 30 a game (and close to 11 rebounds). He doesn't do anything that is spectacular but he can definitely put the ball in the hole and is a very well rounded player (the NAIA version of Carmelo).

Hmmm....thread was brought back. But, since I'm here, I'll give my thoughts. Now, I may sound like a "homer" or whatever the hell you want to call it, but I think Pierre Pierce is very underrated. He had a great season last year and a lot people just overlooked him. He's a phenomenal player that has just a ton of athleticism. Only knock is he's not a great shooter beyond 15 feet. But, I think he's a great player that doesn't get nearly enough credit as he deserves.

How about Julius Hodge, or Leon Powe of California.

I'll agree with MavsJ, Leon Powe should be a standout next year.

Also gotta go with CJ Watson from the University of Tennessee, and that small guy.. I think his name is Tim from East Tennessee State, he's finally getting some press, but that boy has been off the radar recently.

I think it is Lester Abram from Michigan. He scored alot in the seson. When he was injured he missed 3 or 4 games and came back to lead Michigan to a NIT champion.

The guy in my sig, Nate Robinson. I feel like he should be considered in Preseason All-American lists, but his lack of exposure seems to be hurting him.
