From the looks of it, he probley wont go as high as he wanted to, should he and could he still go to college, and just get better under rick, to improve his postion next year?

No he cannot. He already signed an agent, and already has a contract with adidas. He is locked into the NBA draft.

My opinion is he should have went and played under Pitino for a couple years but he made the move into the NBA. The money and hype got to him. Pitino could ahve taught him a whole lot but forget that now.

There are five reasons why he dropped -

    1) Telfair had several workouts against Jameer Nelson, and he most likely didn't perform too well in any of them. One of Telfair's greatest strengths is his open court passing, and he couldn't utilize that attribute in his workouts with Jameer. Jameer is also a step quicker and a better defender. This was an odd match for Telfair to agree upon.

    2) Look at the teams who draft before Boston. Do they need Point Guards? There's Portland, New Jersey, Utah, Denver, Miami, and New Orleans. They all need big men, and there should be a lot of big men available.

    3) As I told you in the other thread, ESPN Insider recently grouped together the top draft analysts in the nation, and they didn't even rank Sebastian Telfair in the top 30. He is really being looked upon as a player with more hype than game right now by many. It just goes to show you how important workouts are. Without workouts, Telfair might be a top five pick.

    4) Team USA played the international team at the Nike Hoop Sumit in San Antonio. Sebastian Telfair was defending Roko Leni Ukic and was burned by him. This really hurts because one of Telfair's best features was reporidely his defense. Telfair was also held down on the other end of the floor. Under Ukic's defense, Telfair only shot 1-10 from the field. After this performance, scouts said he wasn't read to go to the pro's yet. "He's just not ready, period," one GM said. "He's not even the best point guard in his high school class. I think he's talented but he's still got a lot he's got to learn. How many coaches in the league are going to be willing to turn their team over to him right now? I can't think of any."

    5) Telfair's height is becoming really evident. There is no way he comes close to 6'0". Although the point guard position is one of the positions where size isn't as important as skill, he's a bit too small. He's not being able to rebound anything, and he's being pushed around by a lot of bigger defenders.

Try living in Surfside Gardens where someone gets shot every month. It wasn't just a basketball decision, he wanted to get his family outta there [IMG]

That's a good point. I feel like some times the analysts and ourselves forget that these guys are people first and basketball players second. The same mindset was probably applied in Deng's decision to come out early. He was a struggling refugee early on and hasn't had the best life.
