From our current roster, which 8 players would you protect? <u>My List:</u> Kevin Garnett Sam Cassell Latrell Sprewell Trenton Hassell Wally Szcerbiak Fred Hoiberg Ndudi Ebi Michael Olawakandi Many people forget about Ebi, but in future years, Ebi will be a great player. He probably should have went to play for Arizona for a couple years but I'm telling you, mark my words, Ebi and KG playing side by side will be huge. So let's see your list.
Freddy & Trenton dont have to be protected they are FA. Madsen will probably be protected. Me personally I wouldnt protect Kandiman, chances are the Bob Cats wouldnt take him, but if they do that would give the Wolves room to go out & get an upgrade at the Center spot. I would protect Ervin Johnson because if the Wolves are planing to make any type of trade this offseason, he would be a good part to throw in a trade due to the fact that his contract is expiring at the end of the next season. The future cap space maybe attractive to a team, which also makes him attractive to the bobcats.

As far as leaving unprotected, that person is Ervin Johnson because Charlotte's said that they won't take any aging players. Leaving Kandi unprotected is foolish because any true center, especially if they're young, is good trade bait. Giving him away is giving away a resource to upgrade the team.
^ What team with a good bigman would be willing to give up that bigman to get Kandiman? It would be a good Idea to offer them a quality player at another position that can help their team like if a team is having point guard problems, you can ooffer them Hudson(if he doesnt opt out) & Ervin Johnson, who can give them cap space at the end of the season. That could get you a quality bigman or a team have trouble with perimeter shooting, you could offer them Wally S & Ervin Johnson, And that should get you a quality bigman as well.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BronxTeeRex:</div><div class="quote_post">Kevin garnett sam cassel trenton hassell wally world spree Fred hoiberg derrick martin kandiman</div> You can't protect Hoibs or Martin because they're unrestricted free agents. On Charlotte's website, they have the rules of the expansion draft. Here's a partial list: 1. Each team must leave a player unprotected. 2. Charlotte must draft a minimum of 14 players. 3. No team can lose more than one player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TWolfFanatic:</div><div class="quote_post">THud's agent has already notified McHale that he's opting out.</div> So its 100%, they could have got some decent trade value for him if he wanted out.
<u>Protected</u> Sam Cassell Contract status: Signed through 2005-06 ($5.65 million next season) Ndudi Ebi Contract status: Signed through 2005-06 ($751,000 next season) Kevin Garnett Contract status: Signed through 2008-09 ($16 million next season) Trenton Hassell Contract status: Restricted free agent Mark Madsen Contract status: Signed through 2004-05 ($745,046 next season) Michael Olowokandi Contract status: Signed through 2005-06 ($5.4 million next season) Latrell Sprewell Contract status: Player option for 2004-05 ($14.625 million next season) Wally Szczerbiak Contract status: Signed through 2008-09 ($9 million next season) <u>Unprotected</u> Ervin Johnson Contract status: Signed through 2004-05 ($4.99 million next season) <u>FA</u> Gary Trent Troy Hudson Fred Hoiberg Darrick Martin Oliver Miller
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Henacy:</div><div class="quote_post">So its 100%, they could have got some decent trade value for him if he wanted out.</div> THud's already said that he doesn't want to play for more teams & that he's "tired of joining a new team so often." Barring a contender with tons of capspace makes him an incredible offer, he'll return & KG's already saying that they need to keep him.
List and reasons. Kevin Garnett No need to say anything about the big three. Sam Cassell See above. Latrell Sprewell See above. Trenton Hassell Unrivaled as our best defender on the team, quite capable of helping out on the offensive end also. Wally Szcerbiak Instant offense, hard worker. Fred Hoiberg Great hustle, shot and defender. Ndudi Ebi or Gary Trent. I don't see why no one has said Trent, he works hard and is virtually our version of the Pistons' Corliss Williamson. He's strong, scorers pretty well and has a decent overall game off the bench. Ebi has great potential, a truly dominant C is what we need to conquer and dominate the league. Michael Olowokandi Before the injury he was playing real great. I was also told he was a top 5 C during that time. So if he ever could play like that again, we'd be lucky, so in case of that we should keep him. Plus he's one of those "offensive" C's who likes scoring. We need other people who love scoring in case any of our key players have off nights.
I have to agree with Magic. He's got the right reasons for keeping those 8 people. Granted, some of them may not have the best nights, but I know a few of those 8 come in and work hard to get where they're at and improve every season.

Do you think Trent will stay with us? He's a great guy and works really hard, one of our strongest guys on the team.
