I don't mean to be negative or insult anyone but I am just curious how Lakers fans can cheer and put their heart into a team that, according to you guys, don't give it their all every night. They don't seem to want to win or care enough. In my opinion the Pistons are clearly out playing them no matter what the Lakers do or how they play.

I know that I could never root for a team that only comes to play whenever they choose to. I know some of you will say that that is the beauty of it and that is why you love them but I will never be able to understand this.

I told you people if you do ugly, ugly will return upon you. For Example that NO FLAGERENT call on Shaq when he TOOK down Ben Wallace. SO what he was trying to break his fall, why didnt he use Kobe. Now everybody knows if Ben would have done that to Kobe, or Shaq it would have been a flagerent, or it would have been some T's thrown because they would have been mad.

Im not even saying nothing on this loss because I KNEW the Lakers would loose this game, because of the fact the refs didnt make that call.

And IM shocked the bandwagoners are still rooting for their precious Lakers despite the fact they are dont

    *Nice point out rudeezy*

I'm a Laker fan but I'm a Raptor fan first and foremost. The Raptors don't give 100% effort on a lot of nights, especially last season, but I still watch because I'm going to support them no matter what. I've stuck with them since the team was created so I'm not going to stop now that they're going through a rough patch.

I'm sure that it is like that with Laker fans too. They are diehard fans who support them no matter what. Any true fan would do the same.

It is one thing not to bring it every night during the regular season, its a long season. But to choose whether or not to play during the postseason is beyond me. I don't understand how you can root for a team that doens't care enough to bring another championship home when they clearly have the potential to.

haha...short and sweet. That makes sense but it still must be frustrating as hell. I don't know if I would be able to follow a team like that but I'm not in that situation so I couldnt' really say.

Reasons I am a Laker fan.

    1. Magic Johnson
    2. Shaquille O'Neal
    3. Kobe Bryant
    4. Malone being the 2nd leading scorer DOES deserve a ring before he retires
    5. This years Laker team had so much drama built up to them and would love to see the end resulted in a championship.
    6. Lets face it, they are entertaining. If Minnesota or San Antonio made it against Detroit tnen your up for a snooze fest.

Yeah, geography has a lot to do with it too. If you live in the L.A area, you're most like a Laker fan.

I'm not a Shaq fan but I am a Kobe fan and he brings it every night, both on the offensive and defensive end as evidenced by his first team all defensive selection. Also, I've been a huge Gary Payton fan ever since those great days with him and Reign man. So those are the main reasons why I cheer for the Lakers.

no he don't deserve a ring!, its too easy to come with a good team and win the nba title (Ray Bourque did it with the avalanches in 2002 (nhl)) .. same thing for Gary Payton,

Another thing I don't understand is how someone can be a TRUE fan of more than one team. I guess its kind of easy to jump on the bandwagon.

This has happend before with Charles Barkley but failed. Alot of NBA stars merge to a team that they feel will take them somewhere. Hense all the TMac rumors, Robert Horry is a good example of a ring follower, it normal.

Yes I do root for teams playing against the Lakers because I like rooting for the underdog. What is wrong with that?

I disect the game instead of just cheering for the team that has the best chance to win the championship that given year. Enjoy the ride.

And you can't really argue with 3 championships (possibly 4) in terms of effort. It doesn't matter how you get there but most important thing is the end result.

Many seasons the Lakers have not put 100% effort into the regular season but have turned it on in the playoffs to win the championship. I still think they're going to find a way to win this season too.

What a dumb question, I cheer for Raptors even though they suck, because that's where my heart's at, I'm from Toronto.

Would you just abandon your mom if you found out she was a coke head? Do people always have abortions because they find out something's wrong with the child physically?

And your hatred and obsession against Lakers scare me. At least I give props to Pistons... and even said I want them to win at first, you, you just straight hater, no other way to put it. Look at your posts, most of them contain the word "bandwagoner" and that's gettin played out now.

Oh, and I want them to win cause of Payton and Malone. Next year, they don't even gotta make the playoff for all I care.

Why are the Mavericks, Kings, Raptors and Warrior favorites of those who posted above in this thread? Because those posting are fans and will be, win or lose. With all the problems the Lakers have had this year, they are still in the Finals with the Pistons. I have always been a Laker's fan regardless if they win or lose. If your team doesn't play good on a certain nite or has a bad season, should you desert them? Only be supportive and loyal when they are winners. I think not. Just because the Lakers aren't winning every game that they should, doesn't mean they won't have loyal fans. I always want the Lakers the play their best and win all their games but if they did that it would be very boring. The Pistons are playing together as a team and playing defense which NBA teams don't usually do. The Pistons play as a team and are unselfish. They are exciting to watch. For now they are the better team but if they lose the Finals, will the Detroit fans desert them? Who will win the Finals? The team who plays as a team and plays better than the other team. Some days I want Malone to win a ring (not against the Pistons, obviously) but often I don't want him to win. For all the injuries that he caused to other players over his career, he doesn't deserve anything. Hell, you can't take down Isiah, nearly killing him and expect any Pistons team from any year to ever let you win. So screw Malone, and I really enjoyed his life motto of "I don't take the easy way" that we learned during halftime of game 1, which brings the question: why join the Lakers?

But I like the point that Rudeezy makes, I can accept the losses that the Pistons have suffered in the playoffs because I know that we tried to win and that things just didn't go our way. The Lakers either don't care (hard to believe that they just don't care) or they are being stopped. I hate the Lakers because they are arrogant and feel that they don't need to give the effort. It is great that they can finally experience what a team with effort can accomplish.
