Coulda sworn it was you. If it wasn't you then it might as well have been. You cheered so hard for them you might as well have bought a pair of silver and black pom poms. If you were a bettin man you probably would be broke as hell. To me team hoppers are just as bad as bandwagoners.

Yeah, I feel you on that somewhat. I think it comes from Kobe and Shaq crackin jokes after the losses too... but you can't say it all comes from pure talent, talent takes you far, but you can't go anywhere without effort you know?

It's hard to believe that any self-respecting NBA player would not be putting 100% effort into the NBA Finals.

But then again I'm not an NBA player so who knows?

Wow... ignorance at its best... it's funny cause all the people rootin for Pistons are so damn serious, and all seem to be dedicated Laker haters... I'm just having fun, and from what I read, none of the fans here who cheer Lakers ever bad mouth Pistons... while... all of Rudeezy's last posts I've read so far contain SOME kind of diss to Lakers one way or another. Yes I do root for teams playing against the Lakers because I like rooting for the underdog. What is wrong with that?

I disect the game instead of just cheering for the team that has the best chance to win the championship that given year. Enjoy the ride.</div>

I do it too. Also because I don't want them to win a championship. Give someone else a turn. I get sick of seeing them win it... what...? 3 out of the past 4 years or something?

[IMG] boy I remember alot of ppl liking the Lakers before they won the first of 3 championships in the 21st century. Especially when they had Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Shaq, and Kobe. But as soon as they won a championship, I hate the Lakers. [IMG] I was like damn, ya'll sure turned of them fast. I knew only a few that liked other teams like the Spurs basically because that person was from San Antonio so duh. I always loved watching the Lakers growing up, even more so now because of all the dedicated Laker Haters.

Im a long time wrestling fan since I was a kid. I always rooted for the bad guys, the most hated wrestler. The same thing goes for basketball. I love watching the team that no one wants to win, win.

I am anti-Lakers fan in the NBA, but I can't relate myself to any of the NBA teams anymore. NBA has become too professional and just another money making entertaimnent machine. There's no passion anymore.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't mean to be negative or insult anyone but I am just curious how Lakers fans can cheer and put their heart into a team that, according to you guys, don't give it their all every night. They don't seem to want to win or care enough. In my opinion the Pistons are clearly out playing them no matter what the Lakers do or how they play.

I know that I could never root for a team that only comes to play whenever they choose to. I know some of you will say that that is the beauty of it and that is why you love them but I will never be able to understand this.</div>
Well I'd have to question why you are a Warrior fan then. These guys definitely don't show up every game and haven't for over a decade. You like cheering for the underdogs, but the reason they are underdogs is because they don't bring "it" every night.

The Lakers have plenty of heart. Look at all the comebacks they've had this year. They are like the Yankees in baseball. The Yankees can be down by 9 runs with 2 outs in the 9th inning and manage to win a game. The Lakers are in a funk right now, and have played poorly in all 3 games, but I wouldn't discredit them for an entire year because of it.

Kobe has played through injury and his off court battles all season long. He has tremendous heart.

Karl Malone is playing on one leg and has always been an Ironman throughout his career. He has heart.

Fisher does all the little things and is the locker room leader. He has heart.

The Lakers are having a tough time adjusting to such a balanced team. The Pistons are out hustling the Lakers and exploiting all the mismatches. I think it's a lack of effort and not heart for the Lakers being down in the series. I don't think anyone has the real answer to why they aren't motivated to give their best in the NBA Finals.

True fans stick with their team until the end, when the team is down that's when they need their fans the most and I still have faith they will make adjustments and comeback to win this series. All the Lakers need is 1 win in the next 2 games to regain homecourt advantage. If they tie up the series on Sunday it becomes a best of 3 series with 2 of the 3 games in Detroit. Those odds favor the Lakers.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting PyroManiac:</div><div class="quote_post">Some days I want Malone to win a ring (not against the Pistons, obviously) but often I don't want him to win. For all the injuries that he caused to other players over his career, he doesn't deserve anything. Hell, you can't take down Isiah, nearly killing him and expect any Pistons team from any year to ever let you win. So screw Malone, and I really enjoyed his life motto of "I don't take the easy way" that we learned during halftime of game 1, which brings the question: why join the Lakers?</div>
The only thing really keeping him in Utah was Stockton. Once he retired he knew the Jazz were going to start rebuilding. Do you really think he would want to play into his 50s to try to get a ring? Instead he came to the Lakers after being recruited by Shaq. He saw that the Lakers had a huge void he could fill. He wouldn't just be a roleplayer because of the fact that the PF spot is the toughest spot to play in the West and he could make a real difference on this team.

I just think that people view the Lakers as invincible, so even if they are giving their all and lose people won't think it's possible because of the talent they have. It's just an excuse people think of because it's bewildering to see a team of this magnitude lose badly on the biggest stage in basketball. Then again, I can always be wrong and they can be giving no effort what-so-ever, no one knows for sure. I just think players like Shaq, Malone, Kobe, and Payton have been in the league too long to allow themselves and their teammates to fall into a funk of no effort.

I live in the L.A. area, and just fell in love with the Lakers when i came back to America in 99. For the first two years when I really fell in love with watching the Lakers they played their hearts out, and they were just great to watch. The last three seasons have been tough with all the ups and downs with the team, but I just love the Lakers. I don't think I can explain it any better than that. We could also question why you like the Warriors, when it seems like the management doesn't even try to get good because they never go anywhere.. but we don't. You don't need a reason to like a team.

The Warriors have been unsuccessful for so long because of very poor management and ownership, I didn't know that was even a debate. So if teams don't make the playoffs you are implying that they didn't bring it every night? I think having the talent has a lot to do with it.
