if there are gay folks in the NBA itl give whole knew meaning to the term "ball handling skills" cmon guys. dont get all uptight about people making gay jokes about this stuff. humour promotes tolerance
i think doesnt matter if a player is gay, there we talk about basketball not about the sexuality of players i think that is <font color="SandyBrown">*EDIT*</font> <font color="Red">Cursing is not allowed. Also, this has a lot to do with basketball because of the consequences of such players coming out of the closet.</font>
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Me- And how did you came up with this type of conclusion? Did you base this prediction on any factual information? Unless someones comes out the closet, there is no proof that anyone in the Nba is gay. There could be a possibility that everyone is straight. Even Tmac couldn't justify his statement when he was question by the press.</div>2.5% of the male population is homosexual. If percentages transfer to real life, at least 10 players should be gay. When I said 20, I was exaggerating a bit.
I don't know if I would like to play basketball with a homo. Think about it. You are trying to post up down low and suddenly you feel something poke you in the ass. I remember my coach's HOT daughter working with us in boxing out drills. When she thrusted her fine ass in my crothch and pushed me back I couldn't help but pop a boner. For a gay fella, he might get the same feeling but with another player in the NBA. BTW, what's the deal Francisco Elsen and KG? Did I miss something during the playoffs?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MR_SAC_KING:</div><div class="quote_post"> This thread has definetly created a spark,so far it's been very informitive and enjoyable...makes justbball.com a very good place to talk about items just as this!</div>This was my main reason for starting this thread. I know we have mature enough members to discuss this in a mature manner. So the big question is, do you think homosexuals would be accepted in the NBA? By the fans?
Trip-2.5% of the male population is homosexual. If percentages transfer to real life, at least 10 players should be gay. When I said 20, I was exaggerating a bit. Once again I believe you are making this assumption based on faulty data. Using your approach, I found out that 21% of the world population is chinese. This would mean at least 84 people out of the 400 players in the nba would be chinese. Now we both know this isn't true. So using your data to prove that at least 10 people in the nba are gay is just not right. Like I said earlier, there is no proof that anyone in the nba is gay.
Very good points Einitials. It is kind of hard to believe that there is not atleast one homosexual in the NBA but that could be the case.

However, what we're talking about here is exclusively for North America. The 2.5% is for Americans. It's hard to believe that there is not one homosexual in a league of 400. They exist in the NBA, just that none of them have stepped up and admitted to it, yet.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">You sure it wasn't the MLB player your talking about. I think his name was Billy Beane(not the A's GM). I also think he wrote a book about it.</div> Nah, it was definitely an NFL player, they even interviewed some of his former teammates on what they thought about it. I'm pretty sure he played for the Chargers and was of asian decent, just can't remember his name.

You might BELIEVE that there are some homosexuals, but you really don't have any evidence to prove your claim. The point I was trying to convey about the chinese population was to show that your data is not a reliable source to determine if there really are homosexuals in the league. Plus if the data is indeed exclusively just for North Amercian than you are eschewing the international players that play in this league.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting KingCarmelo:</div><div class="quote_post">is magic johnson gay or is he married?</div> Wow. He is married to a women and has been married for many many years now, I think he was even married to her before he got HIV.
Magic is married. You can get HIV from sexual intercourse with a women as well as from a man. Bodily fluids such as blood, semen, breast milk, vaginal secretions, and even small amounts of the virus are in sweat and snot. Magic had sex with hundreds of women and is going to pay the ultimate consequence. He is still with his wife and even has sex with her according to Dateline or 20/20.
Great topic! I think gays in NBA are alright... As long as they stay in the closets. What other players don't know wont hurt them. But if someone was to publically anounce their gayness, their games would get high ratings (I would watch)but their proffesional careers would be done in an instant... Gayness could be used stratigically. Baking down would be a breeze... 5% of players are gay? That is a bit extreme. Maybe 4 or 3.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting _BN_:</div><div class="quote_post">Gayness could be used stratigically. Baking down would be a breeze...</div> i think you just figured a way to stop shaq. He'd give up the ball every time in the low block.. the basketball that is.
Well a lot of people still has principles against homosexuality. Some still live by the Bible's words that a man is for a woman and vice versa. I don't really expect anyone coming out of the closet at any time. They'll be risking too much. Do you really think that his teammates won't be affected in any way? Remember, they do share a locker room together. Besides, he's risking his fanbase, sponsors and the likes. Do you really think that Nike would sponsor a gay player? Not too be judgemental against gays but what they do in their spare time should remain private FOR THEIR OWN GOOD because some players won't treat them right.
I share the same feelings that InNetsWeTrust do. Although I don't agree with the homosexual lifestyle, whatever they do in their private lifes should be kept private. If they want to come out of the closet than expect to be treated differently, and not for the better.
